eliminating bombs away screen

I have just purchased the game, and found it lacking many parts/features of the original.

1. Is there any way to eliminate this tedious and time wasting feature of watching the million planes for 1/2 an hour strike either side. This was available to shut it down in the first game years ago. It just gave you an "after the battle report", like the land base strikes.

2. I cannot figure out how to make ships go to certain non pre-arranged points. If I want to send a fleet to a "point in the ocean" (like on the original), I cannot figure out how to do that. It does not seem to support a non escort, non port, non attack enemy task group point in the sea.

3. How do you get patches for software problems that have been fixed?

There's a way to make the strike screen go away, I saw it someplace, but don't recall where.  To send your fleet where you want it, right click on that spot on the map.

I've worked on both PC versions of the game, and I have to say that new version is a huge improvement over the orginal PC version, with an interface and a set of features that is truly outstanding.

To answer your first question, just look in the Game Options screen, as a helpful poster has already pointed out.

Moving to an arbitrary point is accomplished by a right click of the mouse.

Could I suggest that you have a quick run through of the tutorials, if you haven't already done so. They cover a wide range of the game's features. One of the features of the new CAW that I'm most proud of is the move/combat interface. There are multiple ways of moving and giving combat orders and I'm sure that there will be a combination that suits you.

As for updating, you can do it manually from the Matrix CAW page:

http://www.matrixgames.com/products/337/details/Carriers.at.War

or run the trueupdate program from the CAW game directory.
