Plunder Question

In reading some of the AARs I notice that there have been references to a food hex being plundered when it is captured so my questions are:
1. Do you have any control over whether or not to "plunder" a captured food hex, or is this just a random occurence?
2. If the latter how frequently does this happen (ie is it approx. 10% or 25% of the time or what)?
3. Does the plundering nation receive any benefits from the plundering?
4. Does the plundered food hex ever come back or is it gone for good? If the former approx. how long is it gone for?
5. I assume it is just food that gets plundered and not resources or industry, is that correct?

No one has answered this E-Mail as of yet; but reading some of the older posts I found some answers. I now understand that industry, resource and food hexes can all be destroyed when captured and never come back. I still don't know what the liklihood of this happening is, but I assume once I've played enough games I'll get an idea. So far it appears to only be happening infrequently.
Does whether or not a battle was fought to capture the hex affect the chance of it being destroyed?

I don't have the actual numbers in front of me so I can't give you the probability. But whenever a hex is barraged or a combat takes place there is a chance of destruction of the stuff in it. Also, when a hex changes hands the food can peter out over a random amount of time.
You do not have control over "plundering" but the nation that has captured the hex does benefit from the capture. Once "plundered" the food hex is gone for good.
Industry gets destroyed, food gets plundered, raw materials are not affected.

Problem is that it could mean that a France first strategy would net little profit to the CP. The industry in France, Belgium and the Neteherlands gets destroyed most of the time (if not always), while with some manouvering one can save the food hexes. Basically one only captures RM present in Northern France. Franly I think that industry is too fragile

I have had a food hex disappear in Turkey when a friendly AH unit occupied it. Worth bearing in mind!

It shouldn’t. If you are talking about our game it was because the Russian occupied it. One really weird effect is that you get to use food in isolated pockets. Trapped Russian pockets in both Austria and Turkey helped feed Russia for quite a long time. On the other hand isolated Ottoman Pockets must have provided with quite a lot of resources to you.

No it was another game. Agree on effect of out of supply resources.
