Attached Artillery

When using sub-commanders, unless a corps commander's artillery rating is better than the artillery sub-commander's rating, is there any reason to attach artillery (with artillery sub-commanders) to a corps? When I create my armies, I usually only put infantry in the infantry corps and leave the artillery in the independent command of the artillery commanders (who usually are only one star). Since the army commander is providing the initiative, is there any reason to attach the artillery to the corps and opposed to operating independently?

I know historical practice was to do both, with most of the artillery attached to corps and then an army reserve. Is there any reason toi recreate this practice?

Always better to have a Unit Commander and a sub-commander as you get two leader combat bonuses instead of just one. Of course both can be artillery leaders if you have an artillery leader that has enough CP's.

Thanks for the quick response.  Previously I think you said that specialty (infantry, cavalry, artillery, etc.) only counted for sub-commanders, that it had no effect if it was directly commanding the units.  Is it the same for corps level command, that there is no negative effect for using Pemberton or Sheridan as infantry corps commanders?

Right, as Corps (Unit) Commanders, there is no negative. The type of leader only matters for sub-commanders.
