Can anybody tell me if it is possible to use the WIR map 2 bitmap in game.
The map is on Dave Wolf's site.

The game does not operate on bitmaps, these have been provided by people doing game mods, as a planning map when playing the game.

Embedded in the WIR folder are gredit, which is used to edit the 'Wires.sym' and 'Wiret.sym' files, these alter the map tiles and unit icons. Also in the WIR folder is the mapper file that allows you to use the new map tiles to adjust the SF.map file which produces the map within the game. 'gredit' and 'mapper' are very old DOS applications, which are not user friendly and, in new graphic systems, do not always produce the colours you would expect. It can be a long process editing maps, but it can be done. I have an instruction sheet on using the editors, but it is only paper hard copy and I will look for a downloadable copy, unless anyone else on the forum has one.

If the attachment has worked you should see an ammended WIR map. [:)]

Here you can see what the editors can do for Gary Grigsby's other game of the period, Western Front.

Here is the original game
