Looks pretty cool! If you want something with quicker gameplay than WITP AE.

I think Terminus is inoperative. Just kiddin...........
Additional comment: I admit the game does have a more simple gameplay. (like AH VITP)

The developer posted this over in the war-historical newsgroup :
"Actually, the design is either:
a) Based on my own stupid ideas, if the game is a flop, or
b) Inspired by VitP if it is a wild success.
VitP was the first wargame I ever played, and still one of my
favorites (and from what I gather, it’s still the third-most played AH
title, behind SL/ASL and 3R). It convinced me that it was possible to
make a PTO game that was both playable in an evening and fun. WPP
isn’t a port or anything, I did start from scratch with the design,
and even in a few places consciously made design decisions that would
(I hoped) differentiate it from VitP (which may or may not turn out to
be a good idea, you folks will be the judges). But given that both
games approach the same subject and impose the same high-level
limitations on time and scale, logic pushed me down some of the same
paths Richard Hamblen no doubt trod. If WPP turns out to be as good a
computer game as VitP was a board game, I'll be happy."

I just pulled out my old VitP game and dusted it off the other day.
This looks like it could be an enjoyable beer and pretzels stand in when I don't feel like facing up to the task of a WitP turn.

I'll be pre ordering to save 6.50. It's been one of the titles I've been waiting for and the price is good...

War Plan Pacific
This, from the description:
The theater of operation ranges from Singapore in the east to San Francisco in the west
Gee, with just a bit more effort, they could have included the Pacific area and thus mapped the whole world.
Edit: I don't mean to belittle the product, as I'm not familiar with it and it may very well be a great game, but it's gaffes such as this that tend to make a person wonder whether these folks have any geographic sense or knowledge at all. Frankly.

So, for War Plan Pacific, read War Plan Everywhere-But-The-Pacific...[8|]

In its' day VitP was a great game. I enjoyed the heck out of it, along with it's predecessor "WaS". I might have to check this one out, just for old times sake.

Well, it's an easy mistake to make given that if you live over here, in Eurostan, Singapore is in the East, while SF is in the West.
Don't judge a game-design on such a futility

An emphasis on playability allows a complete game to be played in under three hours. That's right, from Pearl to Nagaski in three hours.
To paraphrase it: a dumbed version of WitP.

WitP is a game in which you play the XO, the executive officer, the one who translates the strategy as dictated by the overall commander to various departments, does the bookkeeping etc.
Given the options I'd rather play MacArthur, deciding on strategy than Joe Schmo, bookkeeper in charge of distributing toilet paper.

Guess that depends on what one is looking for. I personally embrace micro management.

I go both ways. (did I just admit to that in public???) [:D]
However, I can almost never resist the urge to snipe at elitists who put something down out a misplaced belief that their preference is somehow superior.

Yeah, and I'll remind you of that at the most inappropriate moments possible [:D]
Seriously : The older I get, the less interested I am in micro-management games.
I want to play the commander, not his secretary.
This doesn't mean dumb games, this means realistic games that accurately portray the level of command the gamer is supposed to be playing.
In the Panther Games engine as featured in Highway to the Reich and Conquest of the Aegean this means that as the division commander I give orders to regiments and battalions, not individual companies or platoons. :
In a grand strategic PTO game this means I give orders to carrier groups and divisions, not individual pilots. I realize that many, many gamers consider WitP the best game ever made, but every time I start it up it, I just look at it in amazement that there are people out there who actually play it.
No, it's not the simplicity of a game/system which matters to me. What does matter is that during the game and when the game ends, the result - that what you see on the screen - is a *believable* alternative history story - that nothing happened that is totally impossible.
And easy to get into mechanics doesn't mean dumb. Chess is an incredible simple game to learn from a mechanics pov, but unless you're Bobby Fisher, it's not a simple game to master.

In that case War Plan Pacific is not for you.
I've got a thousand things to micro-manage @work - when I come home the last thing I need is *another* micro-management task, but to each his own I guess.
