German ghost mortar (120mm there but where?)

German 120mm mortar German not in scenario editor list but is showing up in scenarios! How?
(It's file name must be titled differently than its in-file name (which would be "120mm mortar"). Or the file is in different folder. Or what?)
Anybody know what I mean?

I am not able to find it in the PC:K german inventory but the german 120mm mortar was the soviet mortar captured and then copied in Germany, so I think it could be added like a captured gun or we must copy, renaming and modyfying the xml file, my version is attached below (rename the suffix to only .zip).

What scenario is it showing up in?
I don't see it in the data of the weapons inventory.

1/43 Winter Skirmish
file name:
"Winterstorm Quick Battle Early 1943"
---------
From description:
Early 1943 Winterstorm Variety Skirmish Map
(Fictional)
Each player starts on opposite sides of a partially frozen river and must hold their own objectives while attempting to capture their opponent's objectives.
This scenario includes a force list with at least one of each unit type from the Winterstorm release, to allow the widest variety in choosing forces.

JMass thanks for the file.

I google'd '120mm German mortar' yesterday and got some info (as you said "it's a Russian weapon copied"). But I couldn't find OOB info.
I have like four WWII studies going on now and I don't want to start another.
So...
Does anyone know where and when this weapon was used and where it was in the command heirarchy?
Did it replace 81mm pltn weapons in heavy company of btn? Was it added to the Art Rgt of a Div (as another batt/company or whole Btn?)? Was it simply part of the command "company" of Div/Korp?
Anyone?

Re above OOB
If I had to guess I would say it buttressed IGs of rifle regiments of Div. Meaning that 'btn' of some Inf Rgts which contained ATG, Pioneers and IGs.
Or something like that (lotsa variation in German Div OOB).

Mobius have you figured out how this peculiarity is happening?

Since it was a copy of the Soviet mortar it shouldn't be hard to add it to the game.
Good Hunting.

No idea.
That it has RBG flags on it means it was in PCK within the last 18mos. or so.
But how it dropped off I don't recall.

I meant the peculiarity of how it shows up in scenario editor and game without crashing game or generating error message.

spellir74,
I looked at this and ideed, viewing this in the scenario editor it does have the 120mm mortar on the german side. This must have been added in manually by editting the XML and not through the editor since the mortar is owned by the russians.
If you run the scenario and play the germans the motar can be purchased, but not used (did I just buy it for the russians?).
If you run the scenario and play the russians the mortar can be purchased (even though it was designated as german) and you can use it.
So, it appears the game won't crash because as far as it's concerned, everything is fine ... despite what has been done.
IMO, it's a typo when they built the scenario by hand ... ie, perhaps the scenario editor didn't exist when it was built.
Rob
EDIT NOTE ... The scenario does have the 120mm mortar available for both sides ... but obviously won't be usable for the germans in the game.

Mobius,
Check my screen shot ... look in bottom right corner of map after loading the scenario and run your cursor over the off board artillery ....

I mean I see it in the scenario itself "Wnter skirmish" when I use the scenario editor.
----
Here's the peculiar part I wanted to understand.
...If I was to create a new unit xml, I could then add that unit to a new custom scenario. But if I then deleted that xml (and reloaded scenario editor) that unit would not be there in that custom scenario I just made (it would actually be default soldier unit).
But with this mortar --which does not have an xml (in the armoured unit folder)-- it is still showing up in the scenario "winter skirmish".
"How?"
Thats all I meant. It is not the end of the world. I was just trying to figure out how [computer games] do what they done do.
Really; Everyone just forget it already...

Mrrah says

Ahhh. That might be it. Right: Maunal file editing. Mystery solved (probably).
