Add mods?

I just purchased UFO:ET as of Oct. 2008, and I am really enjoying the game! Should I add a mod such as bmans mod or SageXCOM? If so, are the mods difficult to apply? Are clear installation instructions included? Are there any other difficulties associated with the available mods?
