Attending a military gamers CON and wanted to loop the opening credits/video when people are not playing on the CPU's. Any ideas on how I would do this?

Thanks so much.

A little custom program ? I'll look into this tonight - you mean the video with the German paras and the Greek music right ? and the Windows Media Player to play it on ?

I made a quick and dirty program to do just that

http://w17.easy-share.com/1701973918.html

Extract the exe from the zip - put it in the same directory as COTA.avi and doubleclick PlayWMV.exe to start the program. Click the "Start" button. Now every 2 minutes the COTA.avi movie starts to play, stops and starts again. Click the "Stop" button and it'll play one more time before stopping.

Give it a go to see if it works on your system - it works over here (famous last words)

oh Thank you So Much!

The CON is this weekend. Expect a few thousand people. I'm sure my DEMO of Panther games will be a big hit. It was last year!

Wow works great!

What program did you use? Would it be hard for me to do HTTR this way also?

Thanks Again!

What program did you use?

Delphi 7 - the source code is free if someone wants it.

Not really - what's the name of the file and how long does it take to play it (in seconds) ?

HTTR is just Highway to the Reich. I will look up the run time.

No, what I mean is the exact name of the file you want to loop and the duration in seconds - Windows Media Player gives you total playing time in the bottom right corner.

The reason is that I only have the beta version of HTTR installed, which doesn't contain the movies, because I gave my box/full version away to a friend who I thought I could turn into a fan of the series. So I'll be programming this "blind" without being able to test it.

I'm curious, by the way:  What's your demo method?

Oh ok sorry about that. The File name is HTTR.avi and the run time is 1:52. Is this what you would need?

Thanks Again!

Well we are setting up about 8 laptops during the CON and running 4- 2 player games of HTTR and COTA. Just trying to get more people from our miniature and board gaming club to enjoy computer wargames. Some still fear computers after being burned by real time junk that purports to be strategy games.

We are also running a 8 player LAN of Hearts of Iron II/ARM/MEM addon's :)

Yup - that's what I needed to know.

PlayHTTR.zip can be found here : http://w14.easy-share.com/1701999429.html

Unzip, put exe in HTTR.AVI directory ... same drill

Enjoy your convention, got one coming up next week as well

Threaten them with the Panther Inquisition if they won't convert - or that you'll send over Ray Wolfe to tell old war stories - whichever sounds the most frightening [;)]

Have fun !
