Artillery Upgrades

What is the artillery upgrade sequence?
I see for the union 6 lb smooth bore batteries upgrade to 10 lb parrot rifle. I also suspect these same units upgrade to the 20 lb parrot rifle. Do normally purchased 10lb parrot rifles also upgrade?
