hi all,
since i know that air HQ units do have a range (by the way: whats the range of the japanese air HQs?), my question is:
if you have airfields at lunga, russel island and maybe 2 other islands very close to russel island, is it the best way to put a air division/brigade at russel island in the center of this japanese air bases so the other bases do get the advantage of this HQ unit too?

10.7 Air HQs
Air HQ’s will help air operations within their operational radius. Level bombers not located within an air HQ’s command radius will have their number of
planes flying reduced by 25% for Offensive missions. All other air strike missions by units outside an air HQ’s command radius will have the flying planes
reduced by 10%. The command radius for most air HQ’s is six hexes. However, Japanese air division HQs have a command radius of three hexes. Japanese
air brigade HQs have a command radius of one hex.
I think that the hex they are in counts as 1 hex. So you air brigades only affect the hex they are in.

What if you split the HQ's up between a number of bases close to one another as I sometimes do? Does this make a vast difference??

If you mean split one hq unit amongst several bases, the bonus only applies to the parent fragment. If you mean split several hqs amongst bases that are close together there's not much point adding an air hq to a base already w/i range of another air hq, unless you need the support squads.
