Transporting units

Couple things I've never sorted out:
1) I was moving the 51st EAB from SF to Brisbane. I inadvertantly had insufficient room in my TF when they launched. I noticed 51st/5 EAB at San Francisco but couldn't find the rest of them in-game (51st/1-4 didn't show on the ground unit list). I had to use WitP tracker to find them. Is that right? Fixed in AE I hope?
2) If you make a TF and load it with an LCU and note it's still "Loading Troops," does that mean the TF is too small? Can you add additional AP's at that time to make room, or do you have to disband and start again?

I don't know about 1.
2. If it is still loading and has room it will continue to load the next turn or two.

Something I hated in vanilla was that if you had a ground unit with a heavy item like RADAR, and you were loading ontoinsufficient transport, you might sail and leave the RADAR behind. Other ships could not go back for it because it literally needed its' own ground people to put it aboard!
I had to send the parehnt group back for the RADAR unit, unload,(allowing them to re-combine), and then reload with more ships..Seemed like a Marx Brothers movie.
Don't know if this was ever noticed before, but it was certainly noticed by several as we were testing RHS..

You will find them on the ships in the TF. One of the problems in the game is the inability to list units in TF but you can use the TF screen but it's not good. Yep WitPtracker works fine.
Could be but also what Nomad said.

I've never noticed this in a stock game; I've left the radar units behind when moving a base force unit via amphibious ships (even an LSD won't transport a radar unit, what's up with that?), but every time I did this an AK sent to where it was could load it and transport the radar to the correct location.

You are correct that LCU's loaded on transports do not show on the list of LCUs. (One of the buttons at the top of the screen) If you list TFs (another button at the top) and sort by load, you can see the TFs that have troops on board. Then you can click on the TF, click on a ship in the TF, and finally see what unit is loaded.
Tracker lets you see units that are loaded in a TF. That is much better.

Thanks all. I've been playing for 4 years now and still love the game. I do still hate many of the annoyances of the interface though.

Just a thought. I have never had problems with the interface, works very smooth on my system. Might it be a pop up blocker or other program running in your background?

Can't you see the loading figures on the bottom of the task force screen? I use that to judge if there is sufficent room.
Also I have seen on spooky's site a spreadsheet that can help

I swear, I've got 100 hours in this game and those numbers don't make sense. I have a LCU that would be 7800 AP, 16000 AK, etc. So I get two AP's with a total load of 8000, thinking that would be enough? I hit ok and sometimes it seems to not work, leaving boys behind.

They may all fit, but depending on the port size, it will take a few days to load them all aboard. As a rule of thumb, I try to assign 1 1/2 the needed space to load troops that are just going from port to port. The empty space will be supplies. If they are loading for an invasion, I try to make it 2 1/2 to 3 times what is needed.
If your short of transports and need to get them in the ships you mentioned, just be sure to click "do not unload" while they are loading and don't select a destination yet.

Yeah probably a few thousand more than that. I've put 100 hours in this past month I think. Total probably is somewhere near 3000 hours.

I usually use mix of AP/AK to get any combat unit aboard ships. If it is division 1-2 small AKs will load big deal of divisional/regimental/brigade artillery leaving infantry and support for APs. For HQs, and similar units you dont need those AKs as this units have foot squads only. Also for Art units you dont need APs

I once had a TF load all the equipment of an infantry division (artillery, vehicles, support, mortars) and left the infantry squads behind. Fortunately I had a RCT and an armored battalion invading along with them, but the division ended up being nothing more than a huge artillery regiment for the other two units!
