Error code 18

Well, just downloaded game. tried starting and got error code 18 - bad serial number. okay, i guess i could have fat fingered it. got on the helpdesk and now I'm getting error messages trying to register the help request. what's the next step. who do i have to contact and how do i get through to some one? appreciate any help.
