Say What?

Stock, Japanese PBEM in late 43

A large convoy (82 large AK) has loaded resources. All AK show 100% and the total load is shown as 574,000 of 574,000. HOWEVER, most AK have less than 7000 resources aboard; the spread is between 6100 and 7000 but every one shows 100% load regardless of the varying amount aboard. Note that the load was shown as 0 of 574,000 before loading so there were no fragments aboard. Also note that over 50,000 resources were still available at the port to load

Hmmm... could there be any OIL on board the AKs? (not sure if this is even possible, but it would cut the amount of tonnage loaded.) i would guess loading any supplies could also mess up the loading...

Vanilla or a mod?

Vanilla stock. Nothing except resources indicated of course. The load oil button is not one of the possiblities with AKs; the button is not just grayed out, it is not even there.

I returned to the port, unloaded some resource, and then set to load resource again. Waiting on turn to see what happened

i would guess maybe moving as least some of the not-fully-loaded AKs into a newly created TF and see if then they would load (in the new TF) might be a useful trick... once (if) they are fully loaded, they could be recombined... if they don't load, it might tell us something.

i suspect this might be a "sticky slots" problem, similar to what happens in sub transport TFs failing to load or only partially loading.

It also might help to create a totally new TF, transfer all the ships into the newly created TF and see if you have the same problem.

At least with sub transport tf's, reuse of TF numbers seems to create the "sticky slot" problem... i would suspect this game might be fairly advanced in number of turns. So, if you generate a bunch of new (very small) transport TFs until you get a new TF number, this could solve the problem.

Another POSSIBLE problem (although much less likely) is if you loaded this turn after another turn was worked on or run... for some reason, memory isn't cleaned out sometimes (seems to be machine dependent) between turns, which leads to problems (including the SYNC bug). Stuff still kept in random memory locations may be still resident.

Well, moving to a different TF did not have any effect.

BUT when I unloaded for one turn and then loaded on the next the problem still existed but the difference between current load and the max was significantly reduced. This acts like a "phantom" load that will be unloaded first, just like the fragment problem. Since I need the resources back in the Home Islands, I sent the convoy home this turn rather than completely unloading and reloading but I suspect that that would fix the problem

I think I've seen something like this once before ... though it might have been fuel or oil instead of resources ... and IIRC when I unloaded them, they really unloaded ... so if this is a "competition" game you might need to figure out how to handle.
