Hi there
Just purchased Harpoon3 ANW and I'm left wondering wether I need to patch the game or not after downloading and installing the game. Not sure if the dowload file is already updated to the last version or not.

I strongly suspect that you have only received the ANW 3.7.0 release version and that it does not include any patches. After you have installed it, the quick way of checking is just to run the Configuration launcher in reduced window mode. (See image)

The top border of your window probably says 3.7.0 version. If that is true, you need to apply a few patches.

About the database... I have to say the main reason I purchased Harpoon3 ANW was that, having played harpoon classic and harpoon 2 way way back in time I liked the game, but between me being quite young and not really understanding naval&air warfare tactics, and the bugs in the game I finally stopped playing it.

Recently I somehow happened to read about the playersDB for Harpoon 3 ANW just by accident, doing a casual search on google.
And I did simple math: a modernized harpoon3 + massively updated, supported and high quality database with lots of scenarios = I buy the game

Yeah, you can say I bought the game mainly because PlayersDB. And you won't be too far away from the truth .
In fact I came here asking about patching because an error message popped up when I tried to open a PlayersDB scenario about my game version being too old... go figure

As for playing MP...first I need to get decently good vs the AI...just got out of one battle where I've been royally spanked . If the AI smashes me like that, I don't want to know what an human player will do with my sorry a$$

We certainly hope that you enjoy our offerings. If you look closely, you will see many of the Harpoon Classic scenarios have been re-made for your enjoyment into Harpoon ANW versions. Check out the Harpoon Classic GIUK and NACV battlesets, the Harpoon Designers Series, and Harpoon Commanders' Edition Battlesets. All of them are re-makes of original Harpoon Classic scenarios.

You should not hesitate to get into the MP games. With all the firepower from missile boats, anyone can win at any time. See you on the ANW server soon. [8D]
