I am playing as the US, but the results of these strikes seemed a bit high. Just wondering if anyone else has seen something like that. It may be that the base had just fallen, so has a zero fort level and still some damage, but would welcome another opinion. By the way, Cairns and Cooktown have both fallen, at very heavy loss to ememy shipping

I can not see results that look off. Which do you mean?

my opponent thought that was a lot of men to loose in one raid, and I admit I have not seen this heavy of losses with so few planes. May have something to do that they were flying from bases that are so close. (Townsville)

Taking into account that there is no fort level and that there a lot of troops present then I think the result is high but OK.

Hmm, doesn't seem right. I can't think of a single instance historically where 2 strikes on an airfield resulted in the loss of 2000+ men. If were a port strike, then maybe I could see the strike hitting just as ships were being unloaded, as this concentrates the base personnel in one general area.

The casualties are not losses. These numbers include all personnel affected by the bombing in any way that they can not carry out their duty the next day.

Where in the manual does it say that? I'm not disputing it, only surprised as I had assumed all along 'men lost' meant lost for good.

Most casualties listed are disabled, not killed.

Its nothing compared to nuke bombardments.

Page 50. It is basically for ground combat but the explanation for casualties counts also for losses due to air bombing or naval bombardment.
