Simple Query

Goodaye,

I've recently stumbled upon this forum. Very interesting. I've got one simple query as I'm unfamiliar with the game system.

Many screenshots show ocean / water areas with a series of boxes. Axis and Allies have their own and they have a succession of numbers in them, eg. 0*, 1*, 2* etc.

What's this all about?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Lancer

WIF uses a combination of hex and area movement. Hex movement on land and area movement at sea.

Excess movement points can be used to place your naval units in a higher numbered "section box" within a sea area. So, a naval unit with 6 movement points could move 2 sea areas and then occupy the 4 section of the last sea area it enters. Being in a higher numbered sea area increases your capabilities for conducting/supporting invasions, intercepting enemy naval units, and increases the likelihood of gaining a surprise advantage in naval combat.

There are more details, but that's the short story version. If you want to learn more, there are 100+ tutorial pages posted in this forum - just look for the thread on tutorials near the top of the thread list.
