Starting Trouble...

I have Windows XP SP2, it's a clean install, with none of the downloadable fixes. I am trying to install Commander with the 1.07 patch. My issue is that I can get the game menu to come up, but when I hit the Play button the game goes to load, but fails. It just hangs on a black screen and completely locks up my PC. This seems to be the same problem many others are having with Java. I am wondering if we are close to a fix for this issue, as I would love to play the game. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael

Sorry you are having problems. We're trying to finish off a patch for CNAW and then we'll be on this to try and sort it out as it does not happen for CNAW so we think we've found a solution.

I hate to be one of "those guys" but is there any ETA as to when a fix to this problem might be made available? I ask only because I have nothing to do at work today. So I am really bored. My apologies.
Thanks,
Michael

I've asked Johan and will let you know when we have an ETA. He has been working on CEAW now but I don't know when a patch will be ready.

You click the Play button from menu, have you also tried the quick start from start menu.

I have tried it from both the Main menu, and the Quickstart menu. It is the same both ways. The game goes to load, and then freezes on a blank screen. It's a nasty one too. The entire machine locks up and requires a hard reset. The funny thing is, after I reset my PC the game will load just fine.

So when you start the PC, first time you run game it works, 2nd time it does not and your have to reboot to get it working again?

Actually it's just the opposite. When I start the PC, if I choose to play CEAW it gives me the video trouble, and locks up the PC. Upon reboot, if I start the game it works just fine.
