Msus Liby
January 23, 1942
1600 Hours
We are to advance against a strong British force just outside of Msus. Our advance will begin at 4:00pm just before sunset begins. The visability is good somewhere around 1300 yards. Our gunners will be able to pick off the enemy armor at a decent range before they can get a decent shot at us. We will be moving across mostly open range with a few low hills between us and our objectives. Most companies will have at least 600 yards and the one in the extreme south has at least 800 yards to reach any of there objectives.
Co C will have the north flank with CO f and CO D on there right flank. These are two tank company made up of three platoons of light and heavy tanks. CO B will hold down the right flank of the tanks in the middle. Co A will move forward on the extreme southern flank and take the most southern objective. Each company will have a platoon of medium and light tanks as support.
We also will have as support 7 flights of planes. HQ was unable to assign us any heavy artty today due to there commitment at Tobruk. We are near a 175 miles SW of Tobruk and opening a way here today will help us when we make a push there.
The first of our troops has already begun to move forward and this battle has begun. I can hear the deep throated roar of the stug B tanks as they begin there prep to move out. Once again we face the British in a fight to the death.
