SPWAW 5.01 scenario THE REAL THING (scen052) crashes after six (or seven) moves!
What is wrong with my computer/software? I play that scenario and it works fine until I get to the sixth/seventh move. I end my turn and then the SPWAW program shuts itself off and I return to my normal windows scene. It shuts down the SPWAW completely. This wouldn't bother me if it was only a small glitch because I can always continue from the autosave file it created a few minutes back, but I can't get through the scenario. It does this time and again?
Can you tell me why? Other scenarios work fine. I tried to upgrade to 5.2 but no help. I have DirectX7 and I have tried the scenario on several machines (my work WinNT does the same). Perhaps I need to reset my preferences?

I know I played it back with v1 or v2 and it was working then, I thought I found the problem when I looked at it and the t32 had a morale of 0, but that wasn't the problem it seems to happen when the German units make it to the back of the town, so it might be a problem with the fort in the back, I am leaning towards a problem with a weapon changing between versions.
Something wrong with one of the units somewhere.
thanks, John.

I was right that it was one of the units, but not which one, I have narrowed it down to the Yu mil cadets, it seems to drop to the desktop when they try to fire their ZB30J mg. It is in the current oob as a team weapon, perhaps that is why it is crashing when the unit tries to use it as a slot 2 secondary infantry weapon? I'll be back after more testing, oh what strange interactions the game gives when someone gets fancy.
thanks, John.

Well I was wrong again, the problem wasn't with the mg, it was with the unit that I randomly chose to fire when testing units, I just happened to pick C1 to test the mil cadets firing and it is the unit with the problem, it is set to experiance 0, that seems to be what causes the problem (I would guess it turns into a divide by zero error when the firing check is made), if you edit the scenario changing unit C1's experiance to something in the 60-70 range it won't crash when it fires.
It only took 2 days and a good dozen crashes to find the error in the scenario, next please?
thanks, John.

Hi and thank you John for the important input!
I checked the Yugoslavian units and sure enough they have (J0 Morale 0, C1 Experience 0) those zero calculation numbers, that might cause problems even in other scenarios. I will keep this in mind.
The only way to remedy the situation is then to fix those numbers by myself? I have never made SPWAW scenario or changed them before (but I know something about it in general because I used to play/create screnarios in the Panzer General III game).
Greetings, Ville
