Intro Music Volume Mod?

I have looked around and cannot locate this, though I'm sure others would love it...
Is there a mod where the music that plays in the menus is either silent or GREATLY reduced in volume? I play these games with the sounds off completely and it's always a splash of cold water in the face when I launch it and haven't muted my computer.

Agreed.
When I have something streaming and start the game, I either have to mute first, or forget and get blasted out of my chair.

Maybe the solution then isn't the trim the volume...
Maybe the solution is to record a 1 second silent mp3 and convert it to ogg and replace the intro music? Does that sound like it'd work or are there constraints upon the length of the track? I'm assuming that it just loops the audio.

Does anyone know the name of the file that plays the intro music? I've looked and can't seem to locate it; if I could find it, I think I would try removing it and see what happens.

I've replaced all the music files in my EF and WF and found the file xbackg1.ogg now plays as the intro in both games.
Hope that helps

Looks like you're right. I tried removing the file and the game failed to continue loading. I guess I'll have to replace it with another file. Thanks for the info, that's exactly what I was looking for.

I found this program in the SPWAW forum (big thanks to JEB Davis)
http://audacity.sourceforge.net
an open source freeware.
Here is what I did to reduce the volume:
Navigate to your game folder ie West Front
Copy and paste xbackg1.ogg somewhere safe
Create a folder on your desktop
Open Audacity
Under Project Import Audio
Navigate to your game folder
Nav to xbackg1.ogg and click
Wait for import to finish
Under Edit Select... All
Under Effect Amplify
Move slider left to -20 or so
Preview if desired
Under file select save project as
Nav to the desktop folder
Save
Under File export as ogg vorbis
Nav to game folder
Overwrite? yes
Failure to make backup copies will cause you grief.
I you do all 3 games, make separate folders for backups and the desktop.
I somehow had my WF change to the RS music.
Test start game to make sure it works
Delete desktop folder
