Some questions

After saving the guy in the Safari, I got an email giving me key points to strike, and talking about a Diamond Mine.
For what I understood the mine was suposed to be near the North Base, but even after conquering it I haven't seen any mines...
My only source of income is the Dam (upgraded to the fullest)and the little income from conquering each of those areas.
Day one ended and I managed to pay every merc (Venom, Dagger, Snook), buy 3 defender merc squads and upgrade the Dam, but I would really love to hire some more mercs and for that I need the mine.
So first question is: where is the mine? What am I missing and how do I get there?

2nd, i've only found 2 or 3 objects with loots inside, and haven't found anything locked that needs key, lockpick nor even crowbar. But still, DJ's has crowbars for sale. This was a feature that was a lot of fun on JA 1&2... Is this feature left unimplemented or am I missing something?

3rd, I've already got some nice weapons and even bought a SVD from DJ's, but I can't find an 5.56 ammo nor 7.62, so I can't use my Famas, SVD and some other weapons...

4th, my char has 85 Acc and I gave it a Famas with scope that has a max range of 85, how comes everytime she shoots with max AP single shot the target only takes 2dmg even with AP rounds? (shooting at a medium range, and Snook is doing very nice shots with Garand at that range or further) Is there some bug with user made female characters?

That's all for now.

The mine is east of the Train Station, which is east of the Roadblock. After the Train Station you have to go through (conquer) the Detour Road sector.

Wow that is a lot of money for troops, I not bought any defenders yet

I not found the mine either, I working on getting the airport, so I don't need the defenders

not sure, not seen anything locked, or that a nade wouldn't open, but if you look, in DJ's they claim the Crowbar as a Melee weapon, not a lockpit/breaker

3rd, I've already got some nice weapons and even bought a SVD from DJ's, but I can't find an 5.56 ammo nor 7.62, so I can't use my Famas, SVD and some other weapons...

DJ's will start to carry them and the troops you start running into will have them also, along with the weapons, I not seen a true Sniple rifle yet, but have seen a Scope on a normal rifle

I think it may be range and loc, Leg, Arm and Head shots seem to do good damage when hit, but I think Chest has something wrong with it, too many -2 hits, for it to be random

I go for legs at long range, nothing else they fall down when hit

That's all for now.

I found a 'Truvelo' 12.7mm sniper rifle in the Coastal City (in a container). Without ammo, of course. Stupid game.

Vassago,

1) I think you spent way too much money on the defender mercs.  They cost you 15k per day.  So only worth it if you are caught away and can't defend an area on your own or the enemy attacks in strength (which I haven't seen yet admittedly).  They are intended to be discarded after they serve their purpose.

2) Can't really comment on this one

3) Ammo is a huge problem for me and a common complaint here.  I'd rather the reverse happen, ammo be common but gun be rare.

4) I believe the devs will say armor.  Or a flesh wound?  Even AP isn't guaranteed to pierce assault armor I suppose.  You seem to get the most damage shooting at extremeties but of course are the hardest to hit.  Personally, I still shoot center of mass or shoot low if on auto.  I just let luck run with the rest of it.

yea, but from what we see, they not wearing assault armor, early on it is camo or nothing, then kevlar

LOL think I found one with heavy armor on, all the way, tossed a nade and it rolled between his legs, boom, -8 damage (now, he should of been playing Spiderman in orbit !)

Silly Hard Sarge, you should've used the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch if you wanted real damage.

1) I didn't realise the 15k is a daily cost :( I though it was an upgrade thing... I put 1 squad on every sector because that's what I used to do on JA, now I see I did a mistake, hoppefully I can dismiss them :S
When day 1 passed I still got 47k at the begining of day 2, all merc crew payed for.
Still no money problem with current merc crew of 3, but I wanted to hire 2 more and this way I can't...
@ShadoWarrior: Do I need to conquer the train station right away or can I get by it and go for the Detour? Is the mine right after the Detour? Only asking this to check if I should go straight to conquer the Coastal Village or do that 1st (from the map the village looks like a very interesting fight).

2) anyone actually found anything locked so far?
Only thing closest to being locked I saw was some doors that after being opened still didnt allow me to enter... some sort of graphical clipping issue. 2 of those doors were on North Base buildings and 1 on the Dam.

3) seams that all of us miss ammo for the best weapons.
Hard Sarge, the Famas I have came with Venom I think. Btw, Venom is a really good shot, tottaly worth the money imo. The SVD I bought from DJ's when I received an email after conquering the North Base.

4)At a medium/long range I usually choose to go for chest to increase odds of hitting. Shooting for the head and arms usually misses.
Since I always got -2 hits I equiped AP ammo without success, but most anoying thing is really that Snook has less Acc then my char and with a Garand with normal ammo does decent damage to the torso while my char does -2 hits with a scoped Famas and AP ammo... That doesn't make any sense...

I don't know if you can bypass the station, but you shouldn't. The $7100/day I get from the (upgraded) station is absolutely necessary for me. I haven't taken the mine yet, but it shows up when you arrive at the Detour.

yea, there are a couple of Merks that come with weapons and either no ammo with them, or once they run out of what they carry, there is none to buy

Fisher comes with the M-79, but no ammo

That's being addressed in the first update, btw.

Great news, Erik. But this stuff should have been caught long before the game reached the U.S.

Agreed - but we are gonna try our damnedest to get a solid update with some substantial improvements ASAP. Believe me when I say we are working very hard to improve this game in a measurable way for you gents!

What Sean said - also please note that a lot of stuff was caught and fixed before it went out for release in the US. Hopefully we'll only need one or two fairly quick updates to resolve the vanishing squad bug and the reported crashes (which are fortunately fairly rare). The rest is a matter of tweaking more than anything.

You know (and I may be seen as Bias) people who complain about Matrix or the guys who work there, really should just look around and see how well and how much you guys support and try to fix/improve the games you release

just because it is was not as soon or what they thought needed to be done, the work and support is great

all the complaints about rip offs and non-support, or not knowing what you are doing, makes me shake my head

keep up the good work, I think most people agree, but just don't say anything

(okay I can be mean and nasty again)

I think the support we're getting from Matrix is absolutely wonderful. That's me speaking as a happy customer. I have no complaints in that regard.

It's the QA manager part of me that's dismayed that they're having to work so hard to fix stuff in a hurry. It shows either a lack of testing, or someone deciding to rush a product out the door, or both. Such ... sloppiness ... offends me on a professional level. And, given that HG was patched twice before being released to the U.S. market makes me downright cringe at the thought of just how bad the initial Russian release must have been.

In general I agree with you but if we were discussing Starshatter:TGS then I don't. There have been numerous complaints about bugs in that game and no one responds at all anymore. Fair enough, I will just never buy another game from that developer again and his game should be dropped from the Matrixgames library, IMO, because it is a blight upon their reputation.

p.s. I'm always mean and nasty. ;)

milkweg,

E-mail me and we can chat about that. We released another beta update for that not long ago and as far as I know the developer continues to be in touch with customers reporting issues via PM and e-mail.

Regards,

- Erik
