Moving all axis units at same time.

This really a pain, why cant I move all axis units same turn, how can I coordinate my German units with my other axis allied units. If I have Rumanian units mixed with German units on romanian ussr border I should be able to move them together.
Im playing the 41 scenerio now and really messes me up if I cant move units at one time.
When I played the 39 scenerio it wouldnt even let me SM my units to other Axis countries that had joined.

Hmm I can see how that could be kind of depressing. There is a kind of rational for this in the situations where cooperation was historically a problem. I wonder if the same issue shows up when the Ami's, Brits and Canadians hit the beach in Normandy? I'm guessing it does.

Just be glad you do not have the faction building within the German armed forces modeled. Sea Lion suffered from the inter service conflicts between Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe, and Army.  The multiple land forces of Luftwaffe, SS, and regular army also made for difficulties.

That said, one of the improvements the AI could use would be avoiding the problems which arise when three or four Axis nations are all trying to attack the same city.  When playing multi nation alliances yourself the careful management of multiple phases seems part of the game, and it would seem less realistic without it.

How true!!!! I find it amusing how many people think of the Nazis as being paragons of efficiency. In fact they operated a lot more like a New Jersey crime family than a government.

I think the moving of individual countries one at a time is one of the better features. It makes preserving a nations force a priority just like in real life.

The complications involved in replacing a unit in the line, with one of an ally, are made much more complicated when the unit in line moves second, and is followed by the enemy phase.  This complication can require you to leave the unit in the front line, and this is realistic.  In fact it could be modeled more carefully in war games. The disengagement of engaged unis for replacement is a very difficult action.  The fact that you have to consider this, and all the complications of Alliance are indeed a good feature.  Certainly keeping national forces together is critical, for morale reasons, not to mention supplies, especially ammo.

I agree this is one of the really neat features.

Yet I think that there should (in a perfect world) be some mechanism for transferring a limited number of units to control of another power. Over all though i like the way it works now.

I like sometimes to allow the allies of my major human controlled power to remain under AI control.  This simply exacerbates the problem outlined in this thread, but as stated above by others, I kind of like the way the game forces each country to move and fight independently.

Perhaps one way to change the way allies interact in RtV would be to allow the human player for a major country to provide war objectives to AI allies.

Example in my current game, I have allowed Romania to remain under AI control, while being allied with my human controlled Germany.  Romania has decided to send it's entire army to occupied Yugoslavia.  I would like to be able to give it an target objective, as in 'move on Odessa,' or some such.
