AAR-SP "Carribean Happy Hour"
Scenario by Freek Schepers
Game Engine: 3.6.2 (will switch to ANW when 3.9.4 is out; eliminating the launch missile bug)
Database: PDB
- AAR Part one -
When I read the release announcement of this scen I instantly got very curious. Interesting setup, fascinating mix of forces.
Here is what has happened so far:
November, 24th, 2008, 12:00 - start
A most unusual setup occurs on the display: I have a small carrier group and two other groups of ships, all widely dispersed over the map. This is a tactical unwelcome setup since I have to split my forces in order to guard the three groups.
Ok, on we go.
12:01 The US Drug Interdiction TF on Aruba is destroyed a minute after the scenario has started. Well, one thing less to take care of.
My strategy: bringing the three groups closely together and shielding them separately as long as necessary.
My tactics:
1. Shielding the carrier with Hawkeyes and Prowlers, the CAP is performed by Dutch Falcons.
2. Flying some Hornets over to the other two groups in order to defend them versus air threats
13:10 Dutch Falcons fight hostile fighters; could be Flankers
13:28 Bad surprise - Flankers (?) attacking the USS LHd Kearsarge ! 23% damage. My Hornets arrive just in time. Combined with two Durch Falcons they blow the attackers out of the sky. Flankers with ASuW loadouts? Most unpleasant. [:@]
All the time heavy air and ship to fight fighting between Dutch and Venezuelan units along the border.
13:44 First Hornet fell due to an Archer missile
14:00 End of Phase one: my surface groups are all shielded by aircraft and I now have to plan the attacks I have to conduct. Losses so far one F-18. I think at least a dozen Venezuelan or Russian aircraft have been shot down by Dutch Falcons or my Hornets.
...to be continued....
