I swear there was a hint/tool tip about quick saving/quick loading. I can't remember which two F# keys did either, and when I randomly hit one of them, I can't tell if it does anything. The manual and FAQ don't help.

F12 is quick save
F8 Loads the most recent quicksave

There are actually 2 quicksave slots. If you want to load the older one you have to go into options and load it manually. Very handy. Don't know how I did without them till I finally saw the hint that mentioned them. LOL

I have had a few problems with the above mentioned buttons. I seem to be used to them being in the other order and end up 'auto-loading' my game all the time

Yeah me too. Shows the glaring lack of a hotkey remap feature.
