Victory ! (against AI, yes, sorry)

On november 20th, 1944, the japanese AI governement ask for peace against my allies forces in my first game, first grand campaign.
Of course the AI show little intelligence in a number of case, and a human opponent would never had done so much error. [;)]
BUT it was great ! [:)]
Took me 9 month to play. Well, some days i made 5 turns, some days no turn. I had a pretty bad year in personnal life, wich took me time; i also had 10 days of hollidays far away from any computer.
But this is it.
Now, big question : should i try the japanese side ? i must admit that the production system impress me....I will certainly try in a few weeks. First, rest ...with other games (battle in italy from matrix for example, or a bit of Colonization).
That's all. This thread was just for the pleasure to tell someone that i ended this MOOONNSTER game ! [:)]

I'll do !
But i think i'll have big troubles with the prod system.
I must try this side before saying if i am a allied fanboy or a jap fanboy.
Thanks for the "GO" advice [;)]
Allied seem much easy: no prod system, lots of everything (supplies, aircrafts, troops, ships, aircrafts, subs, aircrafts...). Just have to wait 1 year of japanese assault, and then the tide change, slowly, and then more and more quickly.
Although this kind of discussion already occur on this forum, my will here is not to initiate another debate to know wich side is more easy/powerful/promising/hopeless..... I was just telling what i've experienced.
More; this game helped me having fun this year, and i'me not sure another game could have done this. I've really found MY game.

Congrats Gladiatt, I still have yet to complete a campaign, PBEM or otherwise.
I gave up on playing the AI as an allied player, but I do have a game going as Japan V AI. The AI is still not much of an opponent, but I am enjoying it quite a bit more. My goal when starting the game was total map conquest and I can tell that at this point that is very unlikely. I have some hope that this game will remain interesting through completion.

I must admit that as allies, for a time, i thought of giving up, as the jap side was so "idiotic". In fact, i pursue because
1) i wanted to see if the game had a kind of video when winning
2)i wanted to know where i could go with my forces
3)i thought i could learn a few more tricks (and i did).
good luck to your game !

THanks [:)]
I will confesse that about a PBEM : i am scare

And much more : i am not shure i could "submit" to the conditions of PBEM;
i mean, most of the time, i could make one turn per day. But the internet is Miss Gladiatt property; if she use it and i want to connect to receive/send a turn, i'm not sure i could obtain it. Second, from time to time, i can't connect for many reason (job asking me, very rarely, to stay at desk late in the evening; wife asking to go to restaurant or to a movie; family coming and staying late; hollidays far away from computer; or, as this year, many many problems of health (not me, but.).
And third, but with help and experience it should disapeared, i 'm not sure to be "technically" good at handling the different files of games whyle sending/receiving...
More over, i'm not sure of the guy i could face....some here on the forum seems very kind guys...others....well.....[8|]
And the AI doesn't complain !
Anyway....maybe one day....

Congratulations on your achievement! Just finishing the game (whether in PBEM or vs the AI) is an accomplishment in itself.
Even after four years, I still enjoy playing the AI, even with its dumb mistakes. I just pretend not to notice the dumbest of them, and I make myself play along quasi-historical lines, which is when the AI seems to perform best.

Yes, some very understanding folks. Some will become good friends too. Been through deaths in the family, surgeries, a deployment of a son in Iraq, a son getting married, wife with cancer, job loss, moves, and lots of other life events with various opponents over the years. BTW, not all of those were in my family, some were on the other side. TAKE THE PLUNGE! You'll find winning/losing is less important than the journey, much like life... [;)]

Well, i'd like to have as much strengh as you. I didn't face so much event this year, and it was "enough" for me. I hope 2009 will be a best year. I just faced a death in the familly, wife has cancer, and had two big accident this year, so it was hard for both of us two. But, hey, it's getting better and better now ! [:)]
And about the game...well, i'm very scare of MYSELF : i am so annoyed (hmm, this word is not enough to explain, but i don't find any more suitable) about loosing....i wouldn't like to loose and to throw away a game, that wouldn't be fair to my opponent. Hopefully, i'm more and more "adult" as time goes on, and may be i should be able to stand it....if i get hope of winning later [;)].

Problem when playing Japan vs. Allied AI will be that Allied AI is generally incapable to conduct complex operations it'd require to recapture bases later. Japanese AI at least gives some effort during first 6 months.
