Ammunition in Character Hands Crash Bug
Posted: Tue Jan 06, 2009 11:23 am
Game Version: 1.07.001
(Digital Download + Update 1, no mods or alterations)
Operating System: Windows Vista SP1
Saved game available: Yes, just tell me where to send it.
Can be reproduced without saved game: Probably, just need somewhere with lots of ammo and/or make sure the character you are testing with has full inventory except their hands.
Result: Crash to desktop either when accessing the buggy item, when opening the storage depot whilst a character is in a bugged state, or even when quitting the game whilst a character is in a bugged state.
Steps to reproduce:
Load saved game.
Switch to squad 2 (contains only Jabby), it will select the Train station (where the squad is currently at).
Open Storage Depot.
Find the 5.56*45 OC ammo in storage : first window, top-right corner.
From here you can CRASH things in multiple ways.
METHOD 1:
Double click the ammo stack, it will move one clip into Jabby's hands.
- NOTE how the stack pops into *both* hands, but it only moved one.
- NOTE how the stack in his left hand has no icon.
Now double click the ammo stack 3 more times, resulting in 4 stacks in Jabby's hands.
- NOTE that when the 4th clip is moved his left hand suddenly has 3 clips and the icon appears.
CRASH: Now try double-clicking on the stack in his left hand.
Method 2:
Shift-Double click the ammo stack, it will move all 4 clips into his left and right hands.
- NOTE how, like method one, the result is 4 clips in the right hand and 3 clips in the left.
Shift-Double click the ammo in his right hand, it will move the clips back into storage.
- NOTE how the stack in his left hand stays there.
CRASH: Click the stack in his left hand.
CRASH: Close and open the storage window.
Method 3:
Switch to ammo screen and locate the ammo.
Follow method one or two.
- NOTE that this time the clips in his right hand will have no inventory icon.
General info:
It seems that putting ammo into the hands of a character will achieve little more than crashing things at some point. I originally found the problem moving ammo from the train station to the north road for storage - it would load up ok (though with the missing icons, which I just thought was a harmless glitch) but when he got to the north road and I accessed the depot it crashed immediately.
It also seems that any ammo will cause the problem, nothing special about the clips I picked.
