Are coastal batteries in UCV or just WITP?

Sub Tenders, are they in UCV, can they be used to refuel/rearm subs at sea?

Thanks

Hello...

Coastal batteries made it into the game. Several bases start with large bore batteries and both sides have defense battalions, which have coastal guns and anti-aircraft guns.

Sub tenders did not. They did make it into WIP. Until then, you might try setting up forward refueling stations. Pick an island close to the front. Carry in fuel containers and supply, using submarines and dump it on the beach. You can also flying in supply, using seaplanes. You can then refuel and re-supply submarines and PT boats from there and hope the enemy does not capture this secret base (pick a really worthless island).

Bye...

I made the mistake of waiting too long before going after Luga and I let the Japs get a Coastal Defense unit established there. Check out the attached graphic to see the results of my bombardment mission.

Rick

Can you do air recon to try to find enemy units such as Coastal Defense units?

Are there specific air recon assets (like those in 12 O'clock high)? or is recon more like PacWar?

Thanks

Hello...

Any time you bomb or sweep a location, you gain some Intel concerning the units at that location. In addition, recon missions may be flown by some aircraft, such as patrol planes or recon planes. These missions are more specific and yield more information. There are recon variants of some aircraft, such as the P-38, that are designed specifically for recon or search missions.

If you lack recon aircraft within range of the location, you can also slip in a submarine. That will also reveal information, concerning the location.

Hope this Helps...

I hate to admit to this but....I had been flying recon missions and could have seen the coastal defense unit but I did not bother to look. I took the AI for granted and did not think it woud transport one to the island.

That hurts! But we have all been guilty of that from time to time. Taking the AI for granted that is. Those poor American sailors!

Glad to see the coastal batteries made it in. I've always loved the story of how Maj. Devereaux suckered in the Japanese at Wake Island and then blasted 'em to hell at close range.:p

Yes, that movie of "Wake Island" I have to get out &
watch from time to time. Loved the looks on the Jap
officers faces when the guns opened up....
