Graphics Help

Post by Mosby »

I know that this has probably been addressed before, but I just downloaded the game and on my XP lappy, the game runs...but there is something wrong with the graphics. I get something looking like @ or # or a big * whenever I think a number or space is supposed to be there. All of the letters are ok.

Any help?

Had the same problem years ago when I had a computer with IGP video card (onboard / shared memory) - the type of card often found in laptops. There have been several threads by me and other users who had the same problem way back in 2000/2001 - but I just noticed that the PacWar forum now only goes back to Jan 2008 - where are the old posts??

I had the same problem, until I loaded D-Fend Reloaded: http://dfendreloaded.sourceforge.net/ and ran the game through that.

It took me awhile to figure out that was the fix to my graphics problem - the sticky topic on top of the fourm - "Pacific War Works, Read How!" was helpful. You can also read the older forum posts by changing Display Topics from 365 Days to All Topics. I found some of those helpful, too.

Now that's funny - I could swear an oath that I always had the display options set to 'all topics' since I joined the forum and was so accustomed to it that the thought of checking the options didn't even cross my mind. I have to blame my new computer for this goof...
