Here i will post an AAR for the War of the Ring- playtest game going on.
The factions playing are
Isengaard
Mordor
Gondor
Rohan
Lorien
Orcs of the Misty Mountains - me.
I will also post some pictures of the action. Other players from the game are also welcome to post in this thread.
Here is a starting overview. As can be seen the Orcs start in the far northwest and is bordering to Lorien and Gondor. Also to the utmost west is Elronds kingdom that can be activated by Lorien.

There is a small mistake in the overview map. South Ithilien is of course a part of Gondor.
The Orcs start with quite small forces. A couple of legions of Orcs, some scouts and a unit of Waarghriders. They also start with 2 leaders. The Balrog (whom is huge) and Glorfimbul a famous Orc general.
Preturn production gives me a lot of PPs some pikemen and supplies. First turn is spent prodding the Lorien lines with some scouts. Production is rerouted to produce some infantry, longbowmen and a couple of trolls. Have to try out these guys.
Here is a picture of the first turn.

Alright.
The Elves of Lorien want to join in this AAR looks like fun but they are unused to modern technology so this attempt may indeed make them appear mortal. The toughts for turn one were all about the awakening of Mordor as the forces of Dol Gulder marched quickly South East to enter the realm of Lorien. For the Orcs of Moria and Saruman the White little thought was given. The Elves really have the feeling of being stuck in the middle with only the faithful Rohan to the south to help them out. Some great things to get used to and a couple of Eagles swooped in on the marauding Orcs from Dol Gulder causing little damage but maybe giving them something to think about

Not much talent for this AAR stuff but as I learn hope my input will get better. Here is turn two's new's from Lorien.
First off event's from Minis Tirith have filtered through that the Corsiars of Umbar have joined with Mordor this is grievous news indeed for although the blood of the old kings may have long faded from them they remain feirce warriors and extra numbers for the dark Lord cannot be a good thing. Perhaps you can take screenshots to show the event will have to figure out how.

Then news from my faithfull allies of Rohan that saruman has stirred from Isengard and is pressing them back to Helms Deep events in Rohan will have much bearing on the fortunes of Lorien.

Moria remains quiet although no doubt the drums of Khazud Dum are beating and the Orcs are moving on their ancient enemy of Lorien. Celeborn and Galadrial though are for now more concerned with whats happening at Dol Gulder no doubt Moria will be pleased about that.

Here is what Celeborn and Galadrial think the forces of Mordor are up to

Very nice work Typhoon. Can i just make one suggestion. You can resize your picture and cut away unnesscesary parts. Your pictures are so huge that my computer wont load them

.........................
The drums of Khazad Dûm are indead beating. But first a reorganization of our forces is needed i have created a new HQ for defence of Moria and for fighting in the far west. My forces are still prodding the border of Lorien. But still no sight of defenders. What are those sneaky little elves into? Are they gathering themselves for an counterattack.
I am also saving up for some research. It would be nice to upgrade to lvl2 Longbowmen. That cost 80PPs.
Some diplomatic despatches are sent back & forth. It seems Isengaard is approaching the fords of Isen with their army.

Fog of War is activated in this scenario. So i really cant see what happens on any other fronts. But from the vague news i get from fartraveling goblin messengers it seems that Mordor have attacked the Osgiliath line in strenght. He speaks of Nazguhls leading the army.
An goblin messenger has even drawn a map of the frontline for me. It goes something like this.

Some update from Isengaard:
After Rohan has mounted an attack on us ([:)]) we needed to strike back. The obvious target seems to be to regain the fords of Isen to then see how to further move on with defensive operations to recapture Helms Deep which ever rightfully belonged to Saruman.
We are also advancing west on Tharbad and might also venture into Fangorn soon (my orcs tell me something about that they need wood to fuel the fire).
As evidence of the attack of Rohan I have a map wich shows the aggressive Rohan unit which tried to cross Fords of Isen. We managed to hold the defensive line and throw them back but just let me add that horse-flesh is back on the menu.
However this unprovoked attack will need an answer. [:)]

hi all, my first time so bare with me [:)]
As Mordor continues expanding, The Legions of Mordor crossed the river, the fight for Osgiliath began The attack on the ruined city was from many sides, orcs from the center, urukai with war machines from the north and from the south a large group of Warg riders.
Gondor soldiers fought bravely while outnumbered causing many casualties for the invading force, but were eventually overrun.

From now on i will show the units at the start of the turn (to not give up to much of my battleplans).
My armies are really starting to gear up now. I have produced some various infantry, and even a couple of trolls. Also some wagons and horses to mobilize my hordes. Finally a couple of siege engines.
Production for the turn shifted mainly to light and heavy cavalry. The Redhorn Tribe is also producing some officers.
In the south it seems a pesky elven unit has appeared. Upon closer inspection it seems to be a weak unit of light cavalry (a scouting party?). The Orcs are not very willing to go deep into the forest, so i shuffle my units around a little. Waiting for some more reinforcements.
Two infantrylegions are dispatched on a secret mission to the west.
In the north reports are that Eagles have been seen in the sky. My armies are worried, but they are pressed on by their leaders.

What a disinformation??[X(] I shouln'd be surprised coming from Saruman the traitor.
Rohan didn't make any attack againt Isengard but it is Isengard which at that moment is invading the Rohan. They will pay for this.[;)]

Then a look at the fronts.
Chicken elfies retreating everywhere. A great eagly swooped down on a unit of Orcs heading into the fangorn forest. All orcs managed to dive away though. So apart from a lonly snaga nobody became birdfeed.

And finally a overview of my forces. Some might say it could be dangerous to disclose this kind of information. I say,.... bow to the foot of the mighty orc. Tremble in fear. Overconfident? nay....

Sorry can't contribute at the moment to the AAR to much work on but I'd like to invite the Orcs of Moria deeper into Fangorn to meet my ents.

AT and Wesnoth are
totally different types of games. Wesnoth is about simplicity and managing probability. Wesnoth's own creator has stated this. AT, on the other hand, is about grand strategy, logistics, planning waves of attack and counterattack, combined arms, etc. Don't get me wrong, I do like Wesnoth, and I've finished Wesnoth's main story campaign, but it's simply not the same type of game. AT can provide a much more in-depth simulation of war, even fantasy / unrealistic war.
