Texture Flip in MS3D-Need Help Fixin' a Be-Deviler

I'm seeing all of my textures flipped in the SE when they are the right way 'round in the scene editor. Somewhere along the line, they are getting flipped.

I've attached the MS3D model, texture, .x file and a text file with the entry addition to my "resources.xml". If someone could aid my addled old brain, I'd greatly appreciate it. I have searched everywhere on the MS3D forums, and can't find anything similar.

Files are in a .Zip here:

Ben,

I will take a look when I can, which might be a while as I have a funeral to go to today [:(]

Ben,

I don't know how to do this yet since I haven't saved outside of Stridor's PzII MS3D model yet. Meaning I haven't saved something and then loaded it in the game.

But maybe this is it...

When the model first loads in Ms3D, lasso all goups and "Rotate" 180 degrees (set 180 degrees Z axis and press the rotate button). (You don't have to do this flip everytime if the model you load is a MS3D file type that has already been flipped.)

Then when you're done and saving as a "direct x (JT)", check box "flip horizontal".

Wouldn't that do it?...

Ben,

Are you saying the texture needs to be "mirrored" ?

If so, the simplest (although you might not like it) is to take your original image and mirror it ... see screenshot below.

Rob

Edit note : Of course, you'll have to UVmap it again.

Ben,

Speaking of mirror .... In MS3D, under Vertex ... have you tried MIRROR LEFT/RIGHT, and FRONT/BACK ?

DirectX likes to mirror or flip stuff.

Let us know,

I couldn't sleep, so I thought I'd give it another go.

The mirror left/right fixed it. Thank you! Now I can have text on the models.

Ben,

Very good! I'm glad it was that. I went through the same "teething" problems you're going through now when I built the M4A2.

By the way, a good texture for your statue (in the other thread) would be the original picture ... bird crap, rust and all !! Maybe even toss a few bullet marks in there. You can get bullet hole textures from other first-person shooter games, then shrink them up.

Bird crap is in. Gotta have that properly modeled.

I still have one model where the textures are still flipped. The above solution worked for everything else. I just ended up changing the sign to be so small that the flip doesn't matter. It's a strange phenomenon.
