I am looking into building a program that would let you see a replay of a real game that took place at some point in history.

The game would be played out with Basic text sim level UI and play by play (Basic ball flight etc.) If you have seen PureSim Baseball's in game UI, it would be similar to that.


So it is not a game per se, but more a tool to let you "watch" games from history play out. Would that be interesting to any of you?

Personally, I'm not sure that my short attention span would outlast the novelty factor of such an application. I'd be more interested in actually being able to play the historic games, with the starting lineups, etc. as they were for that historic game.

Yes, I would enjoy this sort of replay.

For me it would depend more on the game being replayed.  I can only think of a handful I would actually like to watch like that.

No, I'd rather read a book about the teams playing, listen to an old broadcast, or watch a recording. I see no enjoyment in a non-interactive replay of a game from history.

That's really what I was trying to say, I think. Of course, as a labor of love of a designer it may be something that would be worth doing, but as a commercially viable, revenue generating product I just don't see it happening, especially if it takes resources away from a product that can generate revenue.

This sort of "game" would not interest me at all. PadresFan104 and WrathChild have already said anything else that I would have said. So, I'll leave it at that.
