Hi Sarge,
I will anounce here when the 2.09 full up self-installer is delivered and you can download 2.09.
I spent another 2 months working on the counts (friendly losses , friendly pilot losses, and enemy kills).
Maybe after 2.09 is delivered, if you some time, you can load it up and take a look at the counts. I know it is still not perfect but sure would be interested in your opinion if I improved it. Just give 2.09 your unique style of play in the campaign so I can figure out what to do next.

How do I tell what version I am running? I dont think I have 2.09. If I dont where can I get the download upgrade? I am pretty sure I have the 2.08. Should I just wait for 2.10 or do I need to grab this one as well if I dont already have it?
Also,
What will this do to campaigns I have running? Need to dump em and restart?
Later,

You can get 2.09 and multi-skin here (get the 2.09 English and the Multi Skin):
http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtop ... 10&t=13117
To check for 2.09 , look at the lower right of the main menu, the BOBII exe in the BOBII folder, and a small version file in the BOBII folder.
Yes, when you update to new software, you will need to start a new campaign as the data and code will not be compatiable.
I would go ahead and update to 2.09 so you get use to the changes before 2.10.

I was getting a warning message when I tried to install the skin saying I didn't have a 2.08 version found ???

Thanks,
I got the 2.09 downloaded and installed. Will restart new campaigns. I also picked up the Multiskin. Could you please explain just what that is and how will it effect game performance? I have to shut or turn down a lot of things to keep my frame rate up in the larger furballs. If I include the Multiskin what will this do?
Also any advice you could give on increasing frame rates for the larger fights would be a big help. And I did not find any text file describing any new commands or features.. is there a modified manual or what do I use to figure out changes between the older version I have been flying and the new one? Some of the popup screens seem different during game play.
Thanks,
KayBay [8D]

multi skin is art work for the units, if you notice my 109, it is from III./JG53 (red band around the engine, no crooked cross on the tail, white tail)
not sure about what all to turn on or off, but labels will slow you down some/lot, so if you want to use them, or need to, use the smallest amount of info, running some tests on the game, we had very detailed labels we could use, tell us what the AI pilot was doing and what not, nice on a one on one, but flying into 100-200 planes was a monster

(info)
JG 53 was the Pik As Geschwader (Black Ace of Spades in a white dimond) rummer was that the commander (Kommander) was in disfavor with the High Command, because of his Marriage to a Non Arian type, but it was one of the top units during the early campaigns, so they were ordered to remove the Ace of Spades marking and replace it with a red stripe around the engine, this kind of upset the pilots, who also removed the crooked cross from there planes
I think it was on the 500th kill, that the High Command let the have there Spade back, but, the pilots took there time in replacing the crooked cross
there was also JG 77 Herz As {Red Ace of Hearts on a white dimond)

First, let me refer you to a performance thread here:
http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtop ... 17&t=10091
The very large air battles in BOBII will tax your PC (200+ A/C). You can try and tune BOBII using the hints in the performance thread (trade quality against performance). The basic bottle neck is the processor and the second bottle neck (after the processor) in the video card. My Quad processor does well in BOBII but the large air battles do slow it down. Try to keep your average FPS in the mid 20's if possible but short min FPS is OK. Use the built in FPS counter in BOBII to tune it as it is very accurate.
The muti skin gives you historicly accurate skins for each of the fighters (Spit, Hurri, 109) in 2.09. The muti skin for 2.10 has been upgraded to include the bombers (HE111, DO17, JU88), the 110, and the JU87. The multi skin is design to only give you a performance hit during file loading and not during 3D game paly. The amount of performance hit depends on the amount of memory on your video card. You can turn off multi skin in the Bdg.txt options but your performance saving is very small if you have a good video card:
MULTI_SKIN_MODE=DISABLE
The 2.09 Manual is the same as the 2.08 (sorry). Use the read me text to see the new features of 2.09. We do have an updated manual for 2.10. Here is the 2.09 read me text:

Sarge,
Install the 2.09 first and then the Multi Skin.
Yes, you let one get away but you are still a first class killing machine. The best I have seen in BOBII.

to be honest, I think I could disput the other guys claim, we both fired on him
but am very rusty
for the AA in 2.09, where did you get the results from ? the number of guns may be good, but the results are very much out of wack, English AA was not too good during BoB, even worse vs fighters, nothing from my reseach shows that the fighters or bombers really even worried about (more, stuff happens, if it did hit, then I don't want to go there, like in the later bombing campaigns)
remember, range is not what is listed for most weapons, Med AA is only around 8K (most stats list 14 or so) the English had a good Heavy in the 4.7, but it wasn't too wide spead, and the old 3 Incher, was a old gun, forced into action, so wasn't as good as a standard 3 inch gun
I don't think I have flown a mission that I have not been at least hit by aa

Yes, you are correct and the number of guns may be a bit too many. We are looking into it. The amount of the AAA can be tuned as I coded an tuning options for the AAA and flak (you know how I love options for players).
You can control the AAA fire just set the guns to (will increase the reload time of the BOFORS by 2/3):
LT_BRIT_BOFORS_Reloadtime = 300 #the reload time in cseconds (cs / 100 = seconds) for the LT_BRIT_BOFORS 40 MM AA Gun. Just increase this parameter to reduce the BOFOR rate of fire
You can also control the flak but most players like it.
Flak_Size_In_Meters = 11.000000 #The flak size is used to force major damage to an A/C when the flak overlaps the A/C. Used to Simulate a A/C flak hit.
The other controls are:
Increase_Flak_and_AAA_Rate_Of_Fire=OFF # ON = increase the Ground Flak and AAA rate of Fire or OFF = Stay with the same rate of fire as always
Do_You_Want_Flak_Over_France=ON # ON = Player Gets Flak Over France or OFF = Player Gets No Flak Over France
Do_You_Want_Flak_And_AAA_Fire=OFF # ON = Player 'Gets' Flak and AAA fire or OFF = Player Gets 'No' Flak and AAA fire. For saving processor resources
Do_You_Want_Flak_And_AAA_Fire_if_Friendly_within_1000_Meters=ON # ON = Flak and AAA when friendly is within 1000 meters or OFF = No Flak and AAA fire when friendly is within 1000 meters
Yes, we have some tuning to do. I will code in an AAA acuracy control when I can.
Always more to do..............

Sounds good
from my game, we got a lot of details on what and where alot of the AA and guns were
(not many 20/40mm guns, around naval bases, you would run into some 2pounder pompoms, Vickers MGs were the main AA for a lot of places)

Yes, you can get the MultiSkin and if you think they are causing a performance issue just turn it off the Bdg.txt.
MULTI_SKIN_MODE=DISABLE
