You should be able to just download 1.04 and install it--it will overwrite 1.05. I did this going from a 1.04 beta to 1.03 to join a game, and had no problem.

I would think that's a little risky, personally I'd reinstall from scratch. Shouldn't be a huge issue to do so and will be guaranteed safer.

I'm not sure I follow you, David. I thought what I was describing was installing it from scratch. Is there a more "from scratch" way to do it than running the installer for an earlier version?
I guess you could delete the old (new) game completely first (does it have an uninstaller?)--is that what you mean? I wouldn't have thought that was necessary.

I'm not 100% sure of the details but I don't believe the patch programs are full installs. I would guess that they just overwrite files that change, so if you had a file that changed at 1.05 but not 1.04 if you put the 1.04 patch over the 1.05 install you'd still be left with the 1.05 version of that file. This could have unexpected effects.
The chances are that doing what you suggest would be OK, but personally I'd rename the EiA directory and reinstall from scratch into a new directory so that you end up with an install that has never been touched by 1.05.

I would remove then re-install from CD THEN upgrade to 1.04. I say this because 1.05 totally changes the directory structure so when you downgrade it would not overwrite the new structure created by 1.05.
