To replace the old "background image" in the game, register in PNG format these images and rename it : Bluish BG 1024x768
Then, copy it in the bin/graphics/systemgraphics of the game.
I have tested these images, they works great with as AT background image during the AI turn
One is for WW2 ;
(extracted from the old excellent mod for SC1 "ELITE EDITION" GUI MOD from
HolzemFrumFloppen - 2002)
Other is for Napolonic mods ("Age of Napoleon",etc.)

Looks great. How do you do to find out these systemgraphic pics? Do you know how to find the Air attack, artillerybuttons etc and replace them? Can you find the pics for supply and political points?
Btw is this the image that flashes between turns or the one when you start up the game. I would like to be able to change the one that starts up the game.

I had them from other games mods founded on Internet (I have not created them).
All buttons and pics you search are in the directory : "bin/graphics/systemgraphics" of the game.
Format is png and you can simply change them with "paint", it is very easy (Gimp is needed for some graph modifications but not for these). You have no manipulation of masterfile to do, juste to change the images, buttons and pics in the game directory.
The name of the first image (at start of game) is "background3" in the systemgraphics directory, and you can change it too.

Other backgrounds for "Great War" mod : images are calibrated 1024 x 768. You have juste to register it in png format, and then rename : Bluish BG 1024x768
Then copy in the bin/graphics/systemgraphics of the game
If you want to have them at "starting" screen, you have to rename : background3
