Kickoffs 30 yds out of bounds?

Why does my kicker kick the ball up to 30 yds out of bounds? I'd say over half of the kickoffs go out of bounds. I'm using 8-man teams with an indoor stadium (not arena; I hate those walls).

Is this in arcade or coach only mode?

Also, make sure you drafted a kicker, your kicker is the kicker on the depth chart, and he is not injured.

I always let the computer run both teams.
I gave the team profiles with K so I assume they have one. I'll check.
