Is it possible? How is it done?

Yes it's possible. Right click on your shortcut icon, go to properties, and where you see the program execution instructions, add -w to the end. All there is to it. Good luck.

Keep the -w outside the parentheses, and make sure you have a space between the quotation marks and the -w.
Edited for"outside"

Here's a screenshot. FYI, you want a shortcut for the icon that says War in the Pacific, not the one that says autorun.exec

ok, I put the parameter in and Vista no longer complains about the target being invalid, yet the
game still does not start in windowed mode. It's a puzzler.

Works fine to me on Vista:
"D:\Games\War in the Pacific\War In The Pacific.exe" -w

Mr. Quixote kindly took the time to explain what I was doing wrong and the problem has been
solved. Thanks again, Don Quixote!

I'm having trouble getting into windowed mode. I go into the Matrix Folder:War in the Pacific and open the properties for War in the Pacific. Here is a screenshot of what I get. I don't have a shortcut tab to add the -w to and so cannot figure out how to run in Windowed mode. (Vista 64 issues causing my problems btw)

You need to CREATE a shortcut, then modify it.
i don't use VISTA, but in Xp - right click on the program name - then use option "create shortcut".

Thanks guys. I was trying to do it directly from the folder. I had the Game Menu shortcut on my desktop and knew that wasn't right, but didn't think about moving the app to the desktop. Finally can play this on my main computer instead of moving the keyboard and using a 6 year old laptop to play.
