Start a new game, Arras.

Started a new game and when I got to sniper rifles, they worked!!!!! I know nothing of game design or code or whatever, but is it possible that with the start of every new game certain factors are established, some constant and some random? Maybe the effectiveness of sniper rifles is one of the rare random factors, and I just happened to get stuck with it on my first try. Actually, I think it was the blue helmets that made the rifles work. LOL. By the way did you know that if you hire Castor first then you can hire Yamasy. Then fire Castor and you still have Yamasy. That way you can start out with a top of the line merc. So far Yamasy hasn't noticed that his brother is missing!!

That is highly unprobable that such random global variables would exist. Did you installed some mod?

No, no mod installed on the first time through. Just right out of the box and onto my PC. However, there is no doubt about it, those sniper rifles did not work right. I am only guessing at the reason.. Now on my second game everything is fine. I just invaded the Dam and Yamasy with his M-24 and one shot killed one enemy at -116 from almost as far away as you can get in this sector. Maybe someone can figure this out. I certainly can't. Just remembered that I did have the latest patch from Matrix. But that is all.

I thought you installed reinforce's mod for your second game. Didn't you say that all your mercs were wearing blue UN helmets?

I did. First game, no mod just recent patch, sniper rifles didn't work. Second game went as far as to get snipers rifles and check that they worked right. Then installed Reinforce mod and started another game, which I am still playing, and the sniper rifles are still working right.
