I posted this questioon also over at the Depot but figured I would hit oth places for answers.

In deciding the core troops for a Long WWII Campaign, I am undecided on exactly what I should purchase to represent a British Infantry battalion in Egypt at the start of the Italian invasion in the desert.

A 'typical' British 1940 infantry battalion would include, in addition to the 4 companies and battalion HQ, the following:

Signal Platoon (1 Officer, 33 men)

Anti-aircraft Platoon (16 men)

Mortar Platoon (17 men)

Carrier Platoon (1 Officer, 29 men)

Pioneer Platoon (20 men)

Would it make more sense to take a battalion HQ plus 4 infantry companies only as the core troops and rely on support points for all other troops, or include the above troops?
