Winning??

When playing individual scenarios, is there ever a situation when you win before all the turns are played out.? I would imagine that when you completely annihilate the enemy then you are granted victory but does it ever happen when the enemy AI's morale is very low that you are granted victory??

Yes, if you have destroyed or routed most of the enemy's units, and taken all of the V hexes, victory will come.

If you destroy enough of the enemy's units, his morale will break. If you have ALSO captured all of the VP hexes, the game will end in one turn. This usually confers a decisive victory on your troops unless you took too many casualties for your assigned mission.
I have to ask, did you read the manual????
Who has time to read the manual? :)

Why read the manual when you can learn by crashing into the mechanics in game ??
Although the version of the manual I have is old and really doesnt say much that any gamer couldnt figure out in a few sessions.
Personally I prefer a manual which gives a definition for everything. The manual I have only covers about 30% of the game and only a light skimming action at that. (V1.0)
I guess maybe I should download a later version, but then I would understand it all and where would the mystery be?
Later,

Alot has changed since ver 1.0 so many things you read and here may only apply to newer versions of SPWAW. I know your holding out for full version of 7.1 but if your interested click here:
The Armor Site SPWAW downloads page and get yourself the full version of 6.1 and then patch up to 7.1. The manual was updated at version 5.0 so then you'll be more in tune with gameplay and information given.

What I did for the manual was open it and print out the HotKey List. It'll tell you the options that ARE available. In the PDF go to the table of contents and click on whatever you need to know about. On the 3rd page of the Contents, you can click on the HotKeylist and it'll take you there. Good stuff for free!!

Do you ever see a day where a v7.1 manual might be availible? How about a printed copy of the manual that we can order through Matrix? Or, could someone purchase a license to supply bound copies of the manual?
Hmmm...visions of a "SPWAW Special Collectors Edition" here... v7.1 on one CD, the top 500 scenarios on another, the top 200 campaigns on a third, a users manual (bound in a military style notebook with waterproof pages) and the whole shebang stuffed inside a nice replica of a WWII dispatch case for $99.95 (20% discount if ordered with any MC)... Maybe even include a second notebook with all the major armor, air and vehicle units and their specs... LOL...I even have a vision of Wild Bill autographing these things at a SPWAW convention...!
Okay, maybe I'm dreaming...but what the heck

I think that if you hit F1 in the game you get a list of all the hotkeys, and F2 gives you a chart of all the terrain effects, in case you dont want to print out the manual.

Bernie I believe you just described what heaven must be like....
One more addition 1 in every 100 gets a free 20mm flak shell casing.

I actually considered using the cut down head of an 88mm round to hold the CD's, but where would we find them? I suppose we could make replicas that would be nice SPWAW CD holders...
I know cut down brass from Navy 5" rounds make nice CD holders, because I happen to own two that I made myself.

Each holds 10 CD's with Tyvek discs separating them and the head of a second case fits as a tight fitting lid on the first. When I originally made them back in the 70's they were meant as boxes for my ribbons, insignia, etc. Only one was ever used for that and the other was collecting dust in my closet until I realized CD's would fit it one day. Been using it for my wargame CD's ever since.
