Okay I captured the all the main areas... the military base.... port.... north base.... power plant... airport... train station....

However, Janus is not setting an ambush for me? I though this was because I had not captured the village where he and his bro grew up, so i captured it next... BUT STILL NOTHING....

Do I have to capture the village before i capture all the main objectives for this to work?

or do i have to capture everything apart from the palace for this to work?

I think you need to talk to one of the guys at the train station, and he'll tell you a story about his people, the Butsi. If you don't have that conversation, then the whole Butsi part of the story doesn't open up, and then Janus won't stab you in the back.
