Are You a Baseball Conservative?

OK, this is a light-hearted thread, of sorts. I'm actually a liberal sort of guy, except when it comes to baseball.
Consider these questions:
1. Do you believe that there should be a constitutional amendment that permanently bans the designated hitter?
2. Does your all-time favorite ball park still exist?
3. When you think of the Dodgers, what city first comes to mind? Brooklyn or LA?
If you wanna add more criteria, be my guest.

1) Yes and capital punishment if it is not followed !
2) Yes Wrigley Field
3) In my heart, Brooklyn but growing up, LA. I was a huge Dodger fan in the early 60s and 70s.
Still am actually, just spreading the wealth to the Cubs.
4) Pete Rose should be in the HOF
5) Go back to the "minimum" rookie salary and do away with the agents (see #1)

1) Agree. Ban the DH.
2) I don't have a favorite MLB ballpark. I really like Raley Field in Sacramento, home of the AAA River Cats.
3) I think LA. But, the Dodgers have been in LA for as long as I have lived.
4) Disagree. But, that's a whole other discussion.
5) Agree. Put an end to amateur draft bonuses. Level the playing field when it comes to the amateur draft.
6) Ban body armor. Then we'll find out how willing batters are to crowd the plate.
7) Bring back the brushback pitch. In conjuction with #6, we'll really find out how willing batters are to crowd the plate.
Can you tell I was a pitcher? [:D]
Hmm, I don't know if my answers make me a baseball conservative or not. Maybe a modern day conservative?

1. I personally hate the DH rule (takes some of the strategy out of the game) and prolongs the careers of some players who should retire anyways.
2. I would love to get to Wrigley and then Fenway. I know being a Cubs fan and all.
3. I am too young to think of the Dodgers in Brooklyn, so I would say LA.
4. I definitely agree that Pete Rose the player should be in the Hall of Fame.
5. I do agree that there should be some sort of rookie salary scale. Too many rookies have large contracts and have not had to prove themselves. Once they get through their rookie contracts then I believe in the free market. (see the nba).
6. I am starting to agree with this one. Body Armor only for injuries that are healing or just healed.
7. Agree here also. If you get knocked on your rear or even hit, just get up dust off and get down to first base. No going after the pitcher.
8. I do believe that there should be some type of salary cap and floor. It would help even the playing field, but I do think that teams should be required to pay players a minimum amount. I don't care for owners who pocket the revenue sharing receipts for the year.
9. I know that it is getting better, but I would love for the strike zone to not only be consistent but also called as described in the rule book.
10. I love the Wild Card as it keeps more teams trying to make the playoffs and less selling off their top talent.
11. I believe those writers responsible for voting for the Hall of Fame candidates should be required to still follow baseball. I have heard that there are a lot of writes who no longer follow baseball and can't make informed decisions. Also, a player is either worthy for the Hall of Fame or not, none of this I can't vote for him for fear of a perfect ballot, etc.
Oops time to get off the soap box.

1. Yes, you must put on a glove and step on the field with your team to hit.
2. No, both Yankee and Shea are now gone. Growing up about 90 minutes from NYC, I used to go to both stadiums reguarly with my Dad & brother.
3. LA, sorry. Too young to remember them as Brooklyn.
4. If Pete Rose is out, so should PE users. They also affect the outcome of games.
5. The agents and rookie salaries are fine, it is the culture of entitlement surrounding them since they were young that needs to go. Whatever happened to earning your keep?
6. Wear only the helmet or stay in the dugout. The pitcher and fielders have minimum protection, why should you have more?
7. Agreed. To paraphrase, where have you gone Bob Gibson? Barry needs a knockdown more than you know...
8. Salary floor/cap is a bad idea, I feel a floor will just pay bad players more money, not level anything. And a cap will encourage ways to get around them. Just ask the 49'ers. What needs to happen is for the leauge to be taken care of. Right now, the owners and players look out for themselves, not the league.
9. The strike zone is a hard rule, not an intrepretation.
10. The wild card is a made for TV event. If you can't win your divsion after 162 games, you do not deserve a post season berth.
11. Agreed. As an add-on, people inside the game need a say, not just a bunch of guys who never met a buffet line they did not like.
12. The World Series needs day games.
13. The World Series is the October Classic. How about we actually play it in October?

1. Yes. Violators should be shot and then tortured.
2. No. They tore down the old Busch Stadium decades ago. I still miss it.
3. Unfortunately, L.A.
And...
4. Pete Rose should be reinstated and A-Rod should be banned for life.
5. Bud Selig should be deported.
6. No more expansion, ever. MLB was big enough 30 years ago.
7. I should be admitted free to all Cardinal games, both home and away.
8. Okay, maybe that last one is just a tad over the line...
