Hired Guns Freezes-Up on Start-Up

Hello, I just got Hired Guns. I installed it, got the update patch. Restarted my computer. Went to play Hired Guns. Got the menu screen (with the guy in the hammock). This where the game freezes on me. I can't get off the page, exit or soft-boot. I have to hard-boot my computer.

Not sure what to do? Ask me questions if I am missing info.

This is most often a driver issue. Can you please post your Direct X diag file?

Based on your DirectXDiag I think you have two problems:

First, your system does not meet the game's minimum requirement:

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2200+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.8GHz
Memory: 510MB RAM
Page File: 603MB used, 641MB available

Your processor is too slow and you don't have enough system memory. It's very possible that when the game tries to run your system simply can't take the load and the whole OS crashes.

You can try to update your sound card driver and video driver which both look like they are out of date. I would recommend doing that first. If you still can't get the game to run after updating all your drivers then it's most likely your system is too old. Unfortunately there really isn't a work around for this, you basically need to upgrade your system or get a new one.

Look on the bright side, MacetheAce. What a great excuse to buy or build a new PC! [8D]

My old system has served me very well. But I can't avoid it anymore. I really need to upgrade. Feel free to share your thoughts on a really cool PC gamer's system.

I am looking forward to a complete new system. My monitor and speakers are good for the new system. I don't like on-line offers like alienware, I like to deal with my local computer stores. I just lack the knowledge in choosing the right parts and components. Thanks for the help.[:)]

Well, what's your budget? What kind of gaming are you going to be doing with this new PC, besides war games?

I am looking for the bast bang for your dollar. A system that will stay ahead of the curve as compared to regular pack deals. I am thinking of up to $2000. PC gaming with keyboard and mouse.

This system I have now has lasted me a very long time and not failed me. It didn't even have a usb port until I add a card. Yet I can still play some of the modern games. Not bad for a aging computer system.
