40 years ago, the North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong launched a new country-wide offensive that shook the Republic of Vietnam from the DMZ to the Mekong Delta. This new volume of the VCO series examines the battles of Tet 1969, the clash between US and NVA armors at the Ben Het CIDG camp, Operation ATLAS WEDGE and the crushing of two NVA regiments in the Michelin Plantation, the first large-scale ground operation conducted solely by ARVN troops in the Central Highlands and the bloody struggle for Hill 937 better known as Hamburger Hill.

While most 'war-stories' start out 'No S---T, and there I was, lasting for just a small amount of time........' , WELL here's a tale that will take you more time than you'ld believe.........

I'm actually surprised that Matrix doesn't make Stephane's scenarios into a game by themselves!

Boonie's series is entirely worth doing the downloads (1-10) just to get the new updates! AND downloading 11 and everything afterward!

This body of work HAS to be the finest set of scenarios that One could have, especially if your ever wondering what to have on your HDD when your internet connection goes south!

I concur with everything L'zard has said.

I think this series is fantastic. These scenarios bring back some many memories, as I grew up seeing the Vietnam War on the news every night. I then joined the (Australian) army myself and all the training materials at the time were still based upon a conflict in the jungles of south east Asia.

With his knowledge, research and interest you would think Boonie would have published articles or books by now. There is no doubt that these Volumes are a useful medium but therre is a limited audience for them. A very appreciative and respectful audience but a limited one none the less.

What about it Boonie have you ever considered a more formal medium to share this knowledge? (Not that I would welcome a distraction from this project!)

Never seriously no. One of the reason (among many) is that I'm victim of geography. living in France, I'm far from anything related to Vietnam (either the archives, people involved or battlefields) except from what you can find online. One thing I'm sure of though is that we haven't read everything about Vietnam yet, and that historians that can read and speak vietnamese (like Merle Pribbenow) will have a lot of work in the coming years, as the archives in Vietnam are slowly being opened to the public.

I served from 79 to 82. All service was with 3RAR - initially based at Woodside in SA and then moved to Holsworthy 81/82.

I got out when they made us start jumping out of perfectly good aeroplanes.

I hate to sound like a complete no-hoper (too late, I know), but I just reinstalled TOAW, patched to the latest version, and began playing Volume I, after downloading and installing the latest versions of Boonierat's great scenario series. However, I've got a graphics problem: the VC counters are invisible on the map, even when I've completely surrounded them. Is this supposed to happen, or have I got a bug here?

You may wish to read the 'What's New' file buried in the main folder of Toaw III, lol! It updates with each patch you install, ...... "7. Guerrilla units should now be properly invisible if not moving and the hex is not 'seen'. Previously, they weren't unless they were the top unit."

You might wish to refer to the 'advanced settings'.......'Fog of War' makes a mighty large difference from previous versions......

Only other possibility I can think of is a failure to install Boonie's vol 1 graphics-pac into 'Graphics'....doesn't work quite as well in 'Alt-Graphics'.........ymmv...

That's it. I plunked the graphics pack correctly into the GRAPHICS folder, so it's obviously the "invisible guerrilla" units things. Thanks!
