4-5 player random game/Prize Awarded

Evening Gentlemen,
I am looking for a 4-5 player random game. Very large map. Two nations apiece. Each player will play his two nations one after another. I would like a turn around of a day or two. No initial tech, islands and continents(random) and one winner declared by the other players..or to the end if need be. Factories included as well as diplomacy. I will provide a prize for second and first place. It will be a nice piece of militaria mailed to you at my expense. If the turn is delayed too long I will give the side to another or pass over that player. This might be a long game with a lot of diplomacy involved, so it is not for the faint of heart. All the passwords must be given to me in case of drops. I am the moderator, so all final decisions are mine if need arises. We have played this format in the past and it has been a lot of fun. Experienced, mature players preferred. I reserve the right to accept or deny the players. I want to finish this game and a have a 1st and 2nd place winner. Let me know by email, pm or post here.
Regards, Arditi[:)]

Btw, i like the idea to play two regimes per player in case of bad starting positions.
You won´t participate yourself ?

Great! We are almost filled up. Good to see you Seille! I will definitely play. I would like to say the "two nation" idea was mine, but it was Allan's. It works well and makes for some interesting strategic situations. Allan has defeated me a number of times with it! haha[;)] Here are the players we have so far. All are heavy hitters(experienced), so it should be interesting.
1) Arditi
2) Seille
3) Tom Weber
4) Giacomo
5) ? Maybe Allan or Roy?
After I hear back from Allan or Roy we can start.
Regards, Russ [:)]

You wrote "a lot of diplomacy"
I hope this will not escalate to a 4 player vs 1.
Had this already and it wasn´t funny (i was the "victim").
Will there be a rule ? 2vs3 would be hard already.

I envision this as a game with some important initial diplomacy. It will be a "cut throat" game that showcases diplomatic skill as well as military skill. I encourage a lot of behind the scenes talk and deal making. Sending pp's to one another, perhaps giving up a city to another player or other diplomatic overtures I can't think of. The end result, after the smiles, dickering and "backstabbing"(?) is that there should be one clear winner and another second place winner. It is ok to change sides if fortunes wane, etc. I am hoping the prizes will encourage some interesting(lies and or honesty) to bring one player to the top. If one player is feeling beleagured he must work his diplomatic skills(give up a city, send pp's or change allies...?) to survive to become 1st or 2nd.
1) I will ask Vic or another player to fine tune our large map, so that I will not start out with an advantage from seeing the map.
2) We must all give me or the volunteer map maker the passwords in case some one wants to drop. It is ok to drop(we will find another player), but not surrender all the cities...so as to not give the bordering player all one's cities. If a player wants to give a city or cities away, but continue to play; that is their choice and hopefully beneficial to them diplomatically to survive the game.
3) Factories, weather and diplomacy will be toggled. Sharing of maps encouraged with allies or for other nepharious reasons?
I think I have hit all the high points. I will be the final decision maker/arbiter in case of issues arising, unless they involve me and then we will get a group consensus or bring another arbiter in. This is a "cut throat" winner takes all game. We must use diplomacy or other means to get to the top or second place...let's do it with a smile or a knife.[:)]
Sound ok gents?

Another couple of thoughts.
1) One player could possibly win both 1st and 2nd place due to each player having control over two nations.
2) A player can give/relinquish one of his nations' cities to his other controlled nation, but there has to be a least "1" city left to the relinquishing nation...you can't give all of your cities to your other controlled nation. I suppose a player would only do this as a measure of last resort to bolster up their flagging nation?
3) As Seille indicated, in cause of a bad starting position we will have two nations; a player can ally with his other nation or perhaps he wishes to ally with another player with one nation, but be at war with him with the other? Something to think about.
4) ...lastly...I was thinking of leaving tech at 100%, but having higher level cities(level 3 or higher) on the map to encourage higher tech levels, so that tech that is not often seen or used can be researched(halftracks, level 4 planes, Carriers, etc. I will leave this option open to discussion or will implement it if there is no written concern.
I am excited about the game![:)]

I have a little wish for a rule.
No expansion via paradrop !
You know dropping a small para unit close to a city.
I hope this is ok.

Seille,
I would like to second this rule.
Also maybe If you use Para you have to drop a full 20 that the transport can carry, no 1 man blocking the the road.

Ok, no expansion by para-drop. That's fair. I don't want to reduce too many options as the more tactical decisions the better for all. I hope that is ok Giacomo. Allan won't be able to play and neither will Vic. I still have not heard from Roy. Can you guys recommend someone that is regular with turns? Once we have another player we can start. I will set the turns up according to time zones.[:)]

My mapmaker has made a random map. There is one level 5 city and one level 4 city within 5-8 hexes of each regime's capitol. He left the cities at random/level two for the rest of the map. All regimes are connected by sea with their capitol. Many islands and continents. He has added and subtracted terrain to make the map fairly accessible to all regimes and a bit more interesting and realistic. Sea travel is important. Factories, weather, full shroud, diplomacy, map pics are toggled on. No roads, so you have to build your own. No initial tech. We all start in the modern "Dark Ages" I suppose.
The prizes will probably be a nice bayonet from the Franco-Prussian War(French make) and I have not decided what second prize will be. 1st place winner can decide what they want of the two. Perhaps second place will be a WWI bayonet. I'll post pics this weekend of what I choose. I'll send them at my cost.
After we get a good 5th player, get the passwords and the time zones arranged we can get started. Hopefully tommorrow or Saturday. Sooner the better. This is going to be a great game.
Time zones are:
Arditi and 03 are GMT -7 I believe.
Tom is ?
Seille is GMT +1 I think?
5th Player is ?
Send your passwords to arditi@suddenlink(dot)net( I will not look at them, but will save the emails)
The battle begins soon.

I´ll ask him.

Hi Fella's, I just read Seille's e-mail and I'm interested. Just one question though, I was wondering what the average time between turns a single player has to play will be. If the average turn-around is 1 - 2 days, does this mean you get to play one turn a week on average?
If that's the case I will play, but if you want a very high turn frequency, then I cannot guarantee this.

@George
I´ll answer for Arditi.
In earlier games we had the rule to answer within 12 hours.
Not always possible especially with time delay and/or shift work.
I do not answer at 04.00AM when i have to go to work even i receive at this time
often turns from USA.
But if you try to answer as fast as YOU can we won´t have problems i´m sure.
One turn per day means you´ll have your turn back usually after 3-4 days.
At least that´s my experience after all the iron age games i´ve played.
Sometimes i answerred a turn within 20 minutes after receiving, sometimes after 20 hours.
Think it could be the same for you. All our games had a good speed.
That´s (and because you´re the experienced player Russ looked for) why i suggested to ask you [:)]
If you´re busy for some days that won´t be a problem since we all have a real life.
@Russ
Correct me if i´m wrong [;)]
