Graphics Annoyances

Is there any way to alt-tab out of the game so you can read the manual? At the moment when you alt-tab, the manual appears within the game screen (but not in a good way).

There is also only one resolution level which is a shame. And the graphics appear 'hard coded' to the one resolution so text pixelates in a very ugly way once you start zooming the map out. The game is enjoyable but I know this is going to get on my nerves - sorry.

On a simlar issue, can you run it in windowed mode? On my dual screen monitors it takes over more than the one screen and I really love using windowed mode.

I tried -w switch.... Oh so annoying. I had hoped that WCS had sorted this. Its a real pain and its one reason why Forge of Freedom is not played by me any more.

It isn't just for the manual (although I had forgotten to try the F1 key). Still would like to alt-tab out though.

I would have thought with the number of graphics engines available today, one would have been used here to give people the freedom of playing the game the way they want. It's funny but nearly every Matrix game I own has the same sort of limited graphics problem. I bought Commander - Napoleon at War and that title was even worse because it stretched the graphics to fit your monitor. At least this doesn't distort.

Having said that, I'm certainly enjoying the game I'm playing. The simple economy has made it much more accessible than the first title. :)

Unfortunately, it was not feasible to build an entirely new graphics engine for this release. The F1 in-game help is intended to resolve the Alt-Tab to manual question and regarding widescreen appearance, we've found that the most it generally needs is a tweak to driver or monitor scaling settings to get it to look great. Please see my response here on that as well:

I'm not sure what the problem is?  I'm certainly alt-tabbing just fine (Vista 32bit)

I'm not sure I can quite picture the issue based on the description.  Is it possible to take a screenshot of "manual appears within the game screen"?

If your desktop is set to a higher resolution than used by COGEE, then the position of the manual in the PDF reader you are using may be altered with the changing resolution of the screen.

Alt-Tabbing in general is very hard on the RAM requirements. Just as a hint [;)]

Neither do I, but for convenience I prefer reading the manual on my Netbook.
