Spontaneous Game End (1796)

Something that seems to be repeatable for me:
When I start a 1796 scenario as France, I can make my initial moves normally. When I select "End Turn," however, the game runs a few movements (ships only, I think) and then jumps back to the game start menu as if I have hit "end game."
I haven't seen this happen with any other scenarios, although I've only tried some of them.

I went in and tried the 1796 scenario with France. I played one turn and exited normally. Everything seemed fine but the mouse cursor stayed an hourglass and the hard drive light kept working for a few minutes. I ended up clicking anyway and the cursor went back to the standard pointer. There is something weird about that scenario it seems.

I've just tested 1796 as France on both simple and advanced economy, and was able to proceed with the game normally. You didn't, by any chance, change the "Game Length" option during Setup Local Game?

No, I went with all defaults, including simple economy.
