Portable WiTP

Hi all

Long time lurker here. Thought I'd share this - I just bought myself a netbook (Samsung nc10) and installed WiTP to see if it would work. The first time around it wouldn't run and I got an error message about the screen resolution (netbook native res is 1024x600).

After reading on some forums I forced the screen res to 1024x768 (the mouse scrolls to the top or bottom of the screen so you can scan over the whole desktop size). I tried WiTP again and it worked. I fired it up and it works fine and the map actually looks quite nice on the smaller screen.

I started a game in one of the small scenarios and ran the first turn to see how long it would take. I didn't time it exactly but it was acceptable.

Ive never really got into my copy of the game partly because the setup in my house is not conducive to sitting for hours playing this thing but I can now sit in the comfort of my lounge with WiTP on my lap (keeping the other sweet as well).

This is now better for me and I can carry it to work to fire up during lunch and the quieter times. To give you an idea, the size is -

Depth
18.6 cm
Height
3 cm
Weight
1.3 kg
Width
26.1 cm

Now I want to try some other Matrix games I have. Just thought id share.

Glad it's working for you! Heck, some people are talking about playing WITP on an iPhone. :P

i got installed onto a USB drive that was <1 gram and less than a thickness of a match! It worked just fine*... until some malware destroyed the install... [:@]

*you DID have to plug it into a Windows computer, though, but most have a USB plug available.

I've been playing WitP on and off on my laptop for some years now. The only gripe I have is the battery drain. This is a turn-based game that is not thinking between turns, yet for some reason it gives me about 20% cpu usage on both my Dell Inspiron 700m and Macbook. As a result it'll suck through 50% of the battery in less than an hour.

It seems to be a problem endemic to 2x3's products as I also noted it in GGWBTS. Best guess is it has something to do with refreshing graphics or polling for some kind of changes. I've been praying it would have been cleaned up in a patch but no luck.

doubt if it is the graphics... but it DOES give CPU and memory an intense workout.

I think the battery life on the netbook should be better - most users are reporting a life of 5 to 7 hours depending on what they are doing.

Ive had it going for 5 hours with multiple browsers, firewall, antiv and msoffice running and it was still saying 2 hours or so of charge left.

I have noticed that the battery life on my laptop running WITP is about 50% of the normal battery life running, say, an internet browser.
