nice, i have a big missouri that i still havent gotten around to building yet. i miss building models, its such zen. i wonder if Yamamoto built models and then had little "fights" and was like, "ok americans im gonna get you now ill be all like pew pew pew pew and youll be like BOOOM!!!! [:D]

i actually had a thought about that last night cuz it was originally on my photobucket but i substituted it for what i saw on google. the original has an arch and some cherry trees and such

Yeah i agree the second one is great..amazing to think these ships had been constructed in great secrecy in Japan considering the size of them...

indeed, the great bamboo curtains. when they released pix of them to the public they were actually that of CA Tone IIRC

truly magnificent they were. of course the IJN never used them as they should have. imagine if Yamato and Musashi had met Ching Lee that night off Guadalcanal [X(]

Think the Iowas would have dealt with them..but not easily.Safe to say USN Radar Fire Control (as off Guadalcanal) would have proved to be the decisive factor..although its a pity none of the Montana class got finished...would have loved to have seen them in action..[:D]

agreed, the Yamatos wouldve done some damage but i think they woulda lost due to USN damage and fire control

and Montanas wouldve been epic

IJN shouldve finished both Yamatos as super carriers though

I have a book of pure fiction called The Iron Man which says in the blurb, "All but one of the battleships in this novel are real... The Stalin is fiction but is based on the specifications of Yamato and then 'stretched'." 22 inch guns on this monster. Here is a short except.

Stalin's huge shells, each one carrying nearly four tons of high explosive, had an effect over a much wider area. The Missouri was first to feel their awesome power. None of the Stalin's shells actually hit the ship, but all six landed close by and the shock waves from the underwater blasts threw the whole crew off their feet. Even a ship the size of Missouri reacted to the detonations as though it was a piece of rag in the jaws of a small dog, being shaken from side to side.

The battle continues with Missouri and Iowa versus the Stalin (super Yamato). The book was written by John Watson and publised by Warner Books 1998.
