HiHi

Playing a Multi-player PBEM, tried x2 to 'counter' something in a proposed treaty only to find the treaty rejected when returning to the main Diplo screen, is this tied up with the 'Pre-set', Attitudes on game set up or am I doing something wrong? ... probably[8|]

All the Best

I seem to recall that option never worked for me in COG although probably my counters were a bit too optimistic. Haven't tried it yet here.

To address your question, the pre-set attitude is supposed to impact on treaty responses amongst other things in which case that should influence the response. I suppose it will depend too on whether its friendly or not as shown by the dip screen. To check whether counter is working properly you could try it out in a test game offering minimal or even improved offers to see how the AI reacts.

The things he see are really special because it's in a PBEM. I don't believe treaties are taken care of from the PBEM setting since it doesn't happen in the movement phase.

Can't help you there Kingmaker, normally this would let you modify the terms of the treary.
