Hi,
I see there are 5 patches/upgrades for H3ANW, some quite hefty, so must I download and install them one by one in the correct order, or shall I just slap the latest (Update 3.94) over my original box game?

Don't just use the last one.  You'll have many problems.  I recommend:

You might be able to skip one of them, but some users are reporting missing files.  I think that these patches are the bare minimum.
